At last. On a human level I have no joy in seeing anyone lose their job, and SR have a lot to answer to, in the situation they put the club in. I hope they take their time in getting the right appointment this time as will be crucial to the club over the coming season and half. Meed a manager with a bigger reputation this time as that’s what premier players look for. Bielsa would probably love this squad as very young and would be full of running under his coaching. Will probably end up with Jesse though. Anyway, will now look forward with optimism.
I reckon the club had made their decision after Brentford, because of his comments, and have spent the past week lining up a replacement. That’s what I hope, anyway. They were never going to come out at the forum and say “yeah if we lose to Wolves he’s gone.” The only thing they could do is say they’re backing him, despite what was going on behind the scenes. I just hope there was some kind of break clause in his contract. If my company hires someone they can be let go if they fail their probationary period. He has well and truly failed his.
I don’t know what stats the club were looking at but when a team with just 10 men has 59% possession and make it look as if we have just 9 men on the pitch they finally had to do something.
Adam really didn’t like him, did he? Of all the managers we have had since Adam has been at Solent, this was a definite low point in his relationships with them.
His appointment was a disastrous move for saints and even himself. He dragged us forget to the trap door and now I can't see any half competent club taking a chance on him
The next appointment for Rasmus and Sports Republic is crucial. It is the last chance to avoid relegation. I would imagine the players are as relieved as much as the fans.
Nobody comes out of this well. I want young British managers to get a chance to manage in PL. Not only has this damaged Jones, Southampton FC and the fans, it has been a blow to aspiring young British managers everywhere. PL clubs will be wary of repeating our mistake.
It wasn’t a great move for Jones. He should have gone to one of the big championship clubs, one of the yoyo teams.
He will rock up back at L1/lower Championship at some point with an extra few million in his back pocket. Not fantastic for his career but he is not doing THAT badly out of this in real life terms.
Thank **** that’s over with. Just woken up to the news at 6am here thanks to a rogue alarm clock in a hotel room in the US and I’m not even mad. Best wake up call ever.
