56' 2-0 #Gills subs: ON - George Lapslie, Aiden O'Brien and Cheye Alexander OFF - Alex MacDonald, David Tutonda and Dom Jefferies
Gillingham FC @TheGillsFC · 40s 59' 2-0 With Alexander having come on, McKenzie has shifted to left back and Cheye is on the right. Looks like a diamond in midfield with O'Brien in behind Nichols and Hawkins.
76' 2-0 Keillor-Dunn goes down inside the box following contact from Morris. Nervous looks to the referee who says no. Play resumes but now a break in play as Stephen Quinn receives treatment.
did I score any points ?? I said an Ehmer own goal - surely the concession of a ( converted) penalty is much the same?
The case for the prosecution --- Did I really need for Ehmer to provide evidence and support for my 'bigger picture' assessment ?? The utterly stupid way he chose to 'engage' with the Mansfield forward, was exactly what I have been saying about his overall effectiveness for any defence -- whether in Bristol or in Medway! -- He almost went out of his way to grab the opponent (( as is his m.o. )) - and gave the referee no real option but to award a penalty - and I defy any of our members to say that they would not expect a different outcome if it was a Gills player being grabbed. ...... ...... The Defence may now cross-examine!
That's about as soft a penalty as you are likely to see, if we are going to give penalties for shirt pulling, bearing in mind he was trying swap shirts with Ehmer as well, then we are going to start seeing dozens of penalties in every game. We ddin't deserve to win, but we didn't deserve a poor ref decision against us either, to blame Ehmer is just clutching at straws.
brb - Ehmer ((not exclusively )), does it all the time.. I'm actually surprised that he doesn't concede many more penalties.. Now, before pegleg has a fit, I know it happens to our forwards - and that is not right.. and don't tell me that it probably evens itself over the season...ALL of it is CHEATING...and with the penalty Ehmer conceded, Gills went 0-2 down--- and that is a critical lead - much more difficult to claw back than a single goal deficit.. Referees are too weak... ALL CHEATING needs to be punished -- and, NO, it won't create dozens of penalties in each game -- because if ALL cheating is punished in the first instance, players will very quickly realise that they'll concede penalties, (2nd) cards and get sent off... Players will very quickly adapt and stop cheating...... but that's never going to happen when the referees and linesmen/ women are incompetent, couldn't care - or- possibly cheating through bias etc...... I can accept Gills losing (( I've had enough practise )), but not through cheating or useless officials.
