My missus is in Turkey at the moment. It's way way worse than you hear on the media. Corruption with regards to construction is rife, hence the pancaking of whole new apartment blocks. A few backhanders and you are good to go with your projects. I've said to her for years that this would only end in tears. The earthquake is unavoidable but the lax building regulations are not. Heartbreaking
