"We've been improving all the time and I only think we'll get better," he said.

"[In the] second half of the season we'll grow and grow once the players get even more confidence." - Brendan Rodgers.

Perhaps an indication that there won't be much transfer activity.

Dai so as long as everyone agrees with you it's ok, sorry mate I don't see the club throwing away all fiscal policies and spend £15m on players, like they didn't spend £20m odd at the start of the season that you said they need to do.

Our club doesn't need to spend money unless there are injuries, going on past history I don't think we have made any major purchases at that time, we only brought in Borini I believe in that window this year.

The loan market is open then, we have Cauker on loan, maybe that kid from Chelsea , there are options for a further 2 short term loanees, plus as I said those we have signed already . And if bodde does get fit we have him also!

ermmm blackpool thought that too and look what happened to them ..<laugh> We are no way strong enough to go through the season without key injuries, we need to bring a few more good players as cover at the very least.....We of all clubs should have learned our lesson on that score from the past,

Yes and Hull has shown what happens when you over spend, and throw away all policies with finances and careful management.

You are entitled to your opinion dai, and I am entitled to mine! And in my opinion we won't spend unless there is a need, at the moment I cannot see a need, and there is no way we can predict a need until we get into January or February and there is one. It's a very expensive time to do business, and we don't really do business at that time, Jenkins has gone on record that the club dislikes doing business in that transfer window.

I must admit that I dream of Borini signing in the January transfer window!!..............

PS: As an after thought, I'd also like us to bring in another CB, as Monk is on his last Legs, and Edgar would be my choice!...........

look out lads jager is back, he would say black was white just as long as he can argue ,what a ding bat get a life ffs. let me put it in simple terms so even a trained chimp can understand.....nobody.....you know what nobody means don't you...nobody is saying we should spend £15 mill nobody at all, We were all discussing what would be the appropriate sum that Brendan should get in view of his comments in the E.P and until you came along with your definite this not on this earth that we were having a sensible debate, i started it by saying we can easily afford to give brendan somewhere between £10-£15 mill to use as and when or if. we are premiership now and we want to stay here and that will take money and the sum i have mentioned is a small fraction of what we are guaranteed whether we stay up or not.

    Dai,

Listen its a DISCUSSION forum, I offer an opinion on here, I don't need abuse on here from you, if you can't handle the debate don't contribute! You are really are making yourself look foolish on here, one thing I do Dai is look at recent history and that is little or no business at this time of year for us.

    Dai,

That statement alone sums up that you know absolutely **** all about the club and are just talking out of your arse as per usual.

where did this extra £60mil suddenly appear from?

I think the off field building blocks are slowly being pieced together by the board and Brendan 'Bryn' Roddgers.

Most importantly we should be securing players and paving the way now. It's important that we beat the likes of Norwich and WBA to targeted players. It looks as if certain players are catching the eye of Paul Lambert and Bryn Rodgers.

Whatever that trasfer kity is we al know the full back and midfield areas need beefing . It's time to step in for a goalscorer like Pompeys Kitson as well. Danny Graham has looked workmanlike and superb in the last 4 games so it's adding to the depth of options.

Mariappa of Watford looks a solid defensive utility player and offers better value than Middlesbroughs' Bates

I think - yes the club normally would be budgeting somewhat - however, I think any monies spent will be dependent mostly on Brendan putting a business case to the board for anyone he wants to bring in. If his case is good enough, then the funds will be freed up.. :)

I think Dai is referring to the £45 Million this year, if we stay up we'll obviously receive £45 Million again next year, but if we go down then there is the Parachute payments of £48 Million over 4 years, which whether we stay up or go down, adds up to Approx £90+ Million, so Dai is correct as these figures don't include gate receipts, or other clubs sponsorship deals, which could easily exceed £100 Million, of course all this does not come in one season, but if we were to stay up, most of this money would be received within an 18 month period!.......................

Phil we work on what we get this season as we don't know what league we will be in next, we spent about £10m bringing in new player at the start of the season, we also increased salaries of every player at the club, so that will take a sizeable chunk of what is left. Plus we got additional costs paid to stadco, funding the academy and expansion of the stadium etc.

I would say most of the money we've had or going to get this year is spent already, and we will not be making wholesale changes to the playing staff, I would be amazed if we do any purchases at all to be honest, I feel that the club will go with what we got and 2 or 3 loans.

Yes agreed, and I'm thinking pretty much the same as you, that's how I see the funds being used up, but all I was doing in my above post, was helping our friend to understand where Dai got his £100 Million figure from!!........
