I watched the first of the episode of the new documentary from which Johnson's statement comes.

It’s the same format as the previous series, which dealt with Putin’s early days in power. Interviews with people who were there: David Cameron, ex President Hollande of France, various ex Presidents of Ukraine, Presidents of various Baltic States... Poland... EU diplomats.

One of these said that he'd always found Putin to be cool and rational, until the beginning of the invasion of Crimea nearly 10 years ago now, when he became emotional and irrational. Personally, although I don't believe much Johnson says, I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. The current conflict has after all been an embarrassment to Russia as it's revealed it's supposedly powerful forces to be pretty impotent even though the Ukrainians lack modern weapons. And after all, Putin has repeatedly mentioned nuclear weapons, which only a maniac would bring into the equation.

That's where we differ notdistant. I don't believe ANYTHING Johnson says and call me cynical but here we have a UK current PM in a bit of bother {no change there then} and up pops Boris with a story which appears to make him "the man". He has had a year to tell that tale and chose now to put it in the public domain. Bullshit springs to mind.

Well, a major documentary series in which several well known has-beens are sharing what at the time were very private discussions may have something to do with it.

Naturally, it's open season on Putin, who's clearly regarded as a a liar, including his assertion he had no knowledge of or relationship with the Russian separatives who invaded Crimea back in 2014, from Russia territory with Russian weapons. On one occasion, he refused to acknowledge a dead Russian officer despite being shown the man's identity card, his Russian military insignia and communications from his Russian family.

I agree with you about Johnson: he did more lying about Brexit alone than most politicians do in an entire career. But I do believe Putin would make such a threat, not aimed at Johnson in particular of course, but at the UK. There's a clear sense coming out of this documentary from the important people involved that Crimea was a watershed for Putin, changing from a cynical and dispassionate ex KGB officer to a rabid nationalist intent on reuniting the USSR at any cost, cost to others that is.

Well if you want someone to prove that black is white....Putin is your man.

Remember that what is happening in Ukraine is not a war....but a special military operation.

That the destruction in Ukraine is on a par with WW2 scenes we have seen of Berlin... Munich...Dresden etc etc.....but one bomb exploding in Russia is seen as western aggression towards Russia.....Putin is destroying any form of freedom that ever existed in Russia ....and is all out for recreating the old USSR that he was brought up in and the secret police state that he excelled in.

Only the state source of news for the masses to feed on.....surely there must be some inquiring minds that worry about that sort of propaganda life style.

Well lets be honest plymborn you would believe ANYTHING that Johnson says given your history with him as your guide. Putin may be a liar which I don't really dispute but it would be more believeable if the story teller wasn't who it is. Johnson makes it sound as if Putin was offering to do away with him personally and the truth is if made it was more a general statement of fact at what a missile could achieve. It's a bit like saying "if I pointed this loaded gun at you I could shoot you with it". Stating the obvious without any real intent. I still maintain this is more an intent by Boris to get publicity and make himself look like the real hard man than any threat from the Red corner.

QUESTION.........Will 50,000 welshmen be arrested and fined this afternoon at the Principality Stadium for singing Now Now Now Delilah.... because the PC brigade have shown it up as an anti womans song.

Will Tom Jones be heavily fined and have to give back at least 100,000 pairs of knickers that have been thrown at him over the years.

Personally they have highlighted something most people never really noticed about the song.

How could you miss that? I seem to remember a version done by a rock band in which the lead singer simulated his own hanging for the crime......

What an unpleasant mental image that is, particularly if it's his own undergarments.

    Answer to above QUESTION.

50,000 welshman did sing Delilah and not one was arrested....although the result against Ireland might have wished that they had been .....and didn't have to endure 80mins of torture.

To be fair, I have no idea why it's been adopted as a sports song. Hardly inspirational is it?

Their beloved Tom Jones and his collection of women's underwear thrown at him on stage over the years probably.

What's that other song that's been sung at footie matches recently.....even at Home Park ?.....what has that got to do with football either ?

I take it you mean Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline". No idea but at least it's a feel good song.

Most emotional reaction to a song sung at Home Park? The late and much missed Bob Marley's "Everything little thing's going to be alright" (or Three Little Birds to give it it's real title) sung to the Argyle players as we were relegated from the Championship (?) or later down to League 2.

Not a dry eye in the house.

I’m thinking about Three Little Birds. No doubt Sensible will correct me, but I guess that was the Carl Fletcher era. Players not being paid and the vultures circling.

My eyes are moistening thinking about it. I don’t know what genius in the Devonport End started it, but it lasted most of the second half of a hopeless desperate defeat - as I remember it anyway. It was just so….. right for a sad occasion, whistling in the dark as it may have been.

My twelve year old gas boiler is breaking down too often....twice within 10 days....and we have been without heating and hot water since last Thursday 9th....we have been told it is too old to keep repairing....WHAT it's only 12yrs old....we have had previous boilers that where going strong at twenty years old.....and only replace them because you couldn't get spare parts anymore.

Sorry I digress away from the point I want to talk about.

We had a British Gas chap along yesterday to talk over replacing the old boiler.....he walks down towards the front door and he's wearing a Charlton jacket...I jokingly told him he couldn't walk in here wearing that.....and he said that Charlton was not his No1 team.

So I said ok you can come in then.......he then told me that he was a Barcelona season ticket holder.....he was Spanish and had come over here 20 years ago to help run a family restuarant....they had opened more restuarants and he became manager over all of them....but it became too consuming and he left..... and started working for British Gas as a gas engineer.....and now he is a salesman for them.

It seems that his family have three season tickets at Barcelona....which as tradition get passed down the generations.....he pops over there now and again with his two boys and they go to a match.

If the family don't use all three tickets each home match....they phone up the club who then put any spare tickets on general sale.....the family get a small %age and the club get the rest of the ticket value.

I've kept the best bit to last....a single ticket of the families is valued at 200 euros.....which is roughly £174.

He says that every home match is sold out.....he reckons that there are 99,000 there each time.

Remember his tickets are worth 200 euros each....there will be dearer and maybe cheaper tickets....but just think of the financial turnover.
