Only done half his sentence? Oh come on! Come on.....come on come on......come on come on come on I SAIIIID...... Sorry about that, not sure what happened. It's just so catchy.
When you go through your school years do you remember the really good teachers who left a lasting impression on you. We’ll I just learned today that Miss Simpson from my infant school days has died aged 94. I can clearly remember her from being 7 years old, what a great person she was, RIP Miss Simpson. She never married.
There's one that has always stuck in my mind. Mrs Hodgson her name was....Penshaw junior school, 2nd year, whats that, about 8 or 9 year old?...so around 1973/4/ I guess. She played acoustic guitar, and one day she played El Condor Pasa by Simon & Garfunkel. I was the only one in the class who knew it....I think she was impressed. Over the next few weeks she showed me how to play open chords on her guitar, and she taught me a simpler version of the song. Enough that we played it, and sang it together in front of the class. It might not seem much, but for someone who was quite shy, that was a big thing for me....I was quite proud of myself. Never got any 8 or 9 year old chick's mind!!
I remember Miss Seymour ( also didn’t marry) and a lesson which has stuck with me through life. I can’t remember much of her geography, but I do remember that she told us that if we needed say 6 o’levels ( those days we took 9 o’levels) for our next stage and we aimed just for 6 , we’d probably end up with 4. She said aim for 9 , if you fail that , you’ll still get your 6 and likely 7 even 8. I’ve always tried to never “ make do” and tried to achieve best outcome in all aspects of life . Well done Miss Seymour , your teaching career was not in vain !
Seen this pic on Facebook and thought it was brilliant. Raich Carter. Obviously re-touched, but class all the same. Look at that shirt man....a real thing of beauty that. (No argument about a central red vs white stripe with this one)
Gonna start this monster tomorrow.....391 parts. Box is massive, the kronenbourg is there for scale...but now its out the fridge it would be a shame to put it back (might take another pic with a nice single malt next to it....just for scale). I reckon this could take a while....two or three months maybe. I know it may seem an odd or boring hobby, but this is my escape....my "me" time. I find it very therapeutic...I can switch off from all the other stuff in life and zone in on this, even if its just for a couple of hours a night (just for clarity, im on about the model, not the Kronenbourg ) I haven't done one for a few months, been a bit occupied with stuff, but ready for this now.
Fair play to you mate, at least your doing something creative ... not just shouting at the telly. I'm currently writing a novel no one may ever see and it engulfs me at times ... ... everyone needs an out ball
