That's when Roca should sit a bit deeper and make it a three. He gets caught too far upfield on occasions. I think we all agree that we are vulnerable from our own corners. We're not the only ones though, look at Summervilles winning goal against Bournemouth.
And that's why he deserved to be given two windows to assemble HIS squad. From here on in I will hold Marsch alot more responsible for things. Tbh I still think we are a centre half and left back short of sorting things out at the back.
yeh... the villa goal was a bad misjudgement from Adams, that left us our quickest midfielder short, when the break came. In fact he fecked up for the Bournemouth one too... he was giving instructions and left his man for a fraction of a second. Point being we're vulnerable to a degree with how we set up...yes... but we haven't helped ourselves.
Why harp back to Bielsa? He’s gone never to return. He ultimately paid for his decisions by getting sacked, which you called for and agreed with, yet he was far more successful than Marsch. If any comparison can be made it’s Jesse is losing as many games but you seem completely satisfied with that, whereas I think we should also be thinking of giving Jessie the same outcome that MB got if things don’t change fairly quickly.
Maybe. Then again the coach has regularly suggested that the players aren't quite there with the system hence the influx of new players more suited to that style. If his new players can't do it then Marsch will come under more scrutiny than he did before. I've never said Marsch tactics are bang on, just asked that he's given time to assemble his squad the way he wants it and take it from there. The squad looks strong. Now it's time to get some points on the board.
I'm asking if you were as critical of him - because it's generally open season on Marsch and any implied criticism of MB tends to cause feathers ruffling in many quarters on here. I wasn't calling for Bielsa to be sacked but I could see why they did it. I can see the argument for Marsch going too - just feel we've been more competitive in games this season than we were last. So no i'm not satisfied with results, and have never said i have been. I just don't think the answer to every question is sack the manager.
Don't talk about ruffling feathers, Comrade Jammy will be straight in doing his thought police impression
I can see your point but wasn’t Marsch brought in because his style of play would suit the squad we had, just an upgrade on who we had.
I never mentioned Bielsa. I’m discussing Marsch. I’ve not been critical of him til now but results haven’t changed. I very much hope he proves me wrong but so far he comes across more as one of those motivational speakers you get at those crap management conferences you’re forced to go to rather than a football coach.
I didn't say you did mention him fella. I mentioned him... in the context of whether you applied the same judgement criteria. Plenty don't in my opinion. As for his pressers.. yeh he rambles on repeating the same fluff. That said, if you're in the business of looking for a stimulating mix of original pithy quips and thought-provoking insight, I think football managers will be an endless source of disappointment. Whereas i'm here all week But hey, let's move on.
Comrade jammy? Technically, can you be a comrade whilst having a butler and wearing tweed? Or is Lord comrade of jamster a champagne communist?
Ah, now we're in to the territory of whether Marsch was the right appointment. There will be better coaches out there without a doubt. Were there any better available last February? Was Marsch coming anyway last summer? I dunno mate. The only reason I stick up for Marsch is that he seems to get blamed for everything but that's not the case at all. From here on in he has to produce results. He can't really ask anything else of the club. He handpicked 2 of the 3 first team signings this window. No excuses from here. It's over to Jesse.
My own views in Marsch are in line with LoLs. The comparing Bielsa to Marsch thing is now a bit out of order though. The stand out differences are that Bielsa had a small squad which was riddled with injuries to over half his squad. He was forced to play kids and square peg all over the pitch. He did however turn a lower Championship standard team into a top 10 premier league team inside 6 weeks. Marsch has had a year and we still don’t know what his tactics are or if his players know them, because he stall says they are learning. These are indisputable facts. Marsch has now had 2 transfer windows, he has a way better squad right now and he obviously has the backing of the board and indeed the 49ers. I will not be commenting any more on Marsch because results should now improve and we should now not be getting into relegation danger. Those who have stuck up for our shoddy results for the last year will either be proved correct shortly or will jump ship. Pointless having the debate any more we can now only keep fingers crossed and hope we get the results we all deserve
In fairness to you I probably didn’t have the same criteria for Bielsa but then he had more credit in the bank for me.
