Not quite, the impression I get is that he is Guilty until proved innocent? Thoughts go to the lass and her family, they must be going through hell at the moment. There is nothing good about this story whatever way you look at it.
Apprently they are engaged now. Basically she has just gone back to her abuser and he gets away with it. Sickening tbh
The really tragic thing is that if you’re a woman being sexually assaulted by ANYONE it is very unlikely that you will be taken seriously or that the accused will actually be prosecuted. Sorry mods, I know this should probably be on the politics thread, but as Tom has been commenting I am going to post this link which shows just how difficult it is for a woman to report rape and be taken seriously. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/yvette-cooper-warns-300-women-28781553
I don't think that the audio makes Greenwood or the girl come out of this looking too good, to be honest. What kind of person makes an audio recording like that ? They both sound pretty attrocious and I would be suspicious as to why the audio exists. Just seems like a waste of time and a discredit to other more worthy cases. I have to admit that the social lives of footballers has no interest to me. It is difficult to relate to the attitudes of someone who is about 35 years younger than me and to appreciate their morality. Not sure I really enjoy the whole way social media has impacted on society. The trial by media alluded to is a massive problem but I very much dislike the whole narcistic attitude some people now have. Something like this audio would have caused shockwaves back in the 1980s whereas it is now symptomatic of the mindset of people where both parties can behave outrageously and still expect the courts to find one party guilty. The result this afternoon seems like the correct one. Not sure that Greenwood's career won't be impacted by this and, by the same token, I am sure that there will be a crowd quite rightly calling for Man Utd to sack him. Maybe I am being a bit cynical but I wonder how quickly the tabloids will be trying to buy up this story. It reflects ill on our society.
"What kind of girl makes a recording like that?" One who is worried about not being believed perhaps? It said to me that it has happened plenty of times before and she decided to gain evidence. Really don't see how that reflects badly on her and find that viewpoint perplexing tbh. He's probably raping her and beating her up again at this exact moment.
Yup, sadly it's an extremely hard thing to prove as in most cases it's one word against another and having to give evidence in court is very traumatic. But as I alluded to earlier, if the biggest police force in the country aren't even investigating their own officers accused of it then what hope has the average victim got? Awful.
I was just looking for some stats on rape that I posted on the politics thread a few weeks ago, but couldn’t find them, and can’t be arsed to Google them again. From memory, only about 1 in 6 rapes are reported to the police, because of the abysmally low conviction rate, and the sheer stress of the whole judicial process. Of those cases which are reported, less than 1 in 100 result in a conviction. Those numbers might be inaccurate, but they are in the right ball park.
So role play is the reason coming out Absolutely pathetic. Hope they both die in a horrific car accident.
Steady on! But it is nonsense. Roleplay was what all the cretins on Twitter said at the time when looking for any possible way of defending him. You can’t roleplay genuine fear in your voice. Not for me But no need to wish harm on them. Especially her for reasons that I hopefully don’t have to spell out
Strange things going on here, two people combining to make their own lives a misery, causing you upset, enough to make an irrational statement like that? Time for them and the Press to get on with it, and for you to move on to more important things in your own life. If he hadn't been a Manc footballer we would probably never even heard about it?
You're right I didn't think it through properly. I forgot to include her father Care to expand on the bolded bit? As I've read it three times now and it seems to imply she shares some responsibility for being beaten up and raped? Her life is a misery due to Greenwood being a woman beating, rapist ****. Simple as that.
I am confused, that she has gone back to him, why? It takes two to tango? Will history repeat itself, or will they sort themselves out, having learned a lesson and live happily ever after without the violent conduct? I am at a disadvantage, because I don't know you or why you have been so badly scarred by the issue, but it is really out of our hands and can only be made worse by the Press intrusion. It's a human mess, but I am sure there is Professional help being made available to the pair of them.
I'd imagine it already has repeated itself. Violent rapists don't tend to change, especially once they get away with it as they're empowered. "It takes two to tango" - Jesus ****ing Christ It's exactly this sort of rape apologist bullshit which makes scumbag men feel it's acceptable to act in that way. Absolute state of these posts FFS - I'm out.
Not when someone is raped or coerced. It seems her father is more concerned about fame and money than her wellbeing.
I dont think anyone would disagree with any of what you've said, but it's just the way the world is , it's not right or fair and doesn't make sense. But it wont directly impact on your life so why even worry about something your never going to be able change.
It does seem that way, it has got to be more like a TV soap, than reality, I guess a Social Media isn't the right place to discuss it, if anyone is affected they should seek help for themselves?
That was a speculative question not a statement. Not all women are innocent. There are men being abused and nothing is being done about that either. 21st Century justice has a lot to answer for, punishment is no longer a detterent.
No Champs league for Chelsea next season would surely be a massive blow after the spending this year? Can't buy goals it seems.
