Away from football and, more importantly, away from the egg chasing (sorry Remote), I'm flying to Alicante tomorrow with 37 other like minded adults and a 6 month old baby.

As we have done in 5 of the last 6 years (we 2021 missed due to Covid travel restrictions) our running club are taking part in an international running festival on Sunday. Murcia is the venue. 10k, 1/2 marathon and full marathon races. The baby will not be taking part!!!

Mrs BfB and I are scheduled to do the 10k, a distance I haven't run since we went to Brescia last March and Mrs BfB can't remember when she last ran that far as she didn't come to Brescia.

Our taking part is in doubt as we are both carrying various injuries. We will decide Sunday morning. If we don't make it then we will frequent coffee shops, hurl abuse at our club runners and take a shed full of photos.

We have to find somewhere to fit us all in for dinner and rehydration Sunday night. Monday is the leisure day seeing the local points of interest mainly more bars and restaurants, flying home Tuesday.

Weather forecast is mostly sunny, daytime temperatures 15 to 20 degrees C so shorts and t shirts packed in readiness.

Will follow our progress at Hull or lack of it via BBC Live Scores as unlikely to find a bar with our game on the tele.

Blimey BfB, you kept that quiet. I didn't even know that you were pregnant!
Have to say I admire your boozy athleticism. They say life should be about finding a balance .
Anyway, hope you, Mrs BfB and the baby have a great time.
    Enjoy

Oh enjoy BFB. I’m sure you’ll get round the 10k okay, injuries permitting.

I’ve entered the Cardiff Bay 10k at the end of March but repeated chest infections and asthma means I can’t even do a Parkrun at the moment.

Hope Mrs BFB enjoys it as well. I got Mrs Irish into running and she leaves me behind now.

    Better late than never.

Put a few pounds of sloes in the freezer in late autumn meaning to make sloe gin before Christmas. My usual routine.
Stuff got in the way and I've only just got round to it, so 4l of gin now in cooking.
Just written on the calendar that it'll be ready 3rd week of May. It often stays in the jars for longer than the 3 months, but that's the earliest.
No rush, still got a couple litres hidden away from the last batch. <cool>

Just got in after a few hours toil, working up a thirst. Beer at the ready.

Looked on BBC website just before getting in the car, 1-1.
While Mrs Remote was locking the gates, Radio 5 cut to our game. 2-1. <doh>

Dive in the shower, grab a sarnie and watch a new look Wales side.:emoticon-0107-sweat

Yeah, I've got a few Scottish mates.

When you know you've said the wrong thing.

Wife and her sister called into Boots in Bridgend yesterday to pick their usual skin creams and free trowels. Whilst there the wife's sister bought some concealing cream to cover a very small residual blemish from a pimple on her nose. To be honest, it was clearing up on it's own and you could hardly notice it but she insisted on getting some of this cream.

This morning she put some of it on and was absolutely delighted that it completely hid the minor mark. She came into my mancave to ask me what I thought. I confirmed the excellent result - then came my big mistake. <doh>

I asked her if she'd bought enough to do the rest of her face........<laugh><laugh>

    Been a busy few days.
Quite a bit of stuff sorted for the fishing club, paperwork mainly.
Put about 600m of electric fence around a field, moved the sheep into it and took over a km of fence down from the field they came from.
Been tidying up at the small holding, filled a skip with all sorts of stuff.
Besides more tidying up today, tackled another problem. The extractor fan in the en-suite has been making some funny noises for some time. It was still sucking (passed the square of toilet paper over the vent test) and a cursory look in the loft didn't show anything obvious. Anyway, a couple days ago, Mrs Remote said it was getting a bit steamy in the shower (I should be so lucky). Re-did the paper test and it failed. Back in the attic this morning. Fan still working. Took off the pipe from the shower vent to the fan. Pipe was clear. Put my hand over the fan, no suction. Disconnected the pipe from the fan to outside and suction was restored, so a blockage between the fan and outside. Went to lift the pipe to find it very heavy. The reason? It was full of water.
Took a storage box up to put the pipe and water in and struggled down through the attic hatch. Dried it out and put it back together and all is good.

Absolutely no idea how about 3 or 4 litres of water ended up in that pipe. The plate on the outside to stop rain coming in is still in place and it is largely sheltered by next door anyway. Cant imagine its just condensation.

Back to the subject of boilers, no hot water for my shower this weekend, unless I turned the heating on first. Pressure up around 4 bar and boiler ejecting water through the overflow pipe. Reported the problem this afternoon and fair play nice guy turned up a couple of hours later to diagnose I need a replacement expansion chamber and pressure relief valve. Hopefully wont take too long to source the parts and fix the problem, in meantime I wonder if BfB will let me stay in his apartment for a few days?

I wondered what the pong was on Saturday?

Bit of a long way for work? Poole to Cardiff and back.

Cheaper option, go to local leisure centre for a swim then shower after.
