I'm not sure that needs to happen for bullying. If i have a boss who shouts at everyone and always patronises all colleague, i would probably class that as bad management at best and bullying at worse even though they are treating everyone the same. As for all the government bullying standards, i don't necessarily buy into that and think some people can be a bit soft but without being there it's not for me to decide or not
Phillip Green, once of BHS, had a demanding, aggressive style of management. It made the company very successful. He was obnoxious and challenging to work for, but did it make him a bully? I don't think so, unless he had singled people out for bad treatment. From all I've seen, Raab did not do that. He expected high standards from everyone.
With respect Goldie, where does it say in that report that these civil servants are “lazy” or “refused” to to go back to their office. Surely if it’s a choice given to them, and they choose to stay at home, then it’s just taking a choice that’s offered….and not “refusing” With regard to my personal issues with bullying management, I realised early on in the process that it’s used on the side of the bosses…..when a manager can blatantly lie about their staff, and that lie proven beyond any reasonable doubt…and thus to have the hearing (consisting of the managers friends and colleagues) saying “well, that isn’t important”….you know you will never win. I am a great believer in Karma…..and when it bit a certain manager on the arse at a later date, I wallowed in his suffering. And I hope he suffered the way my family did. But I admit I’m a nasty, vindictive piece of work….when I want to be.
I don't think the BBC will used the word "lazy", Stainsey, but it does suggest a malaise in the workforce, and that seems to be evident generally post pandemic. The fact that more people take out of the state, than pay into it now, is also a worry imo, whether for a Tory or Labour government. Well, it's very sad for your family and, yes, I can see it is difficult to prove.
So then there is no substance in your first assertion that these workers are “lazy bastards”….it’s just your opinion
It is my opinion of some of them, certainly. And it's virtually impossible to sack a civil servant, it's a job for life, which is not the way we want to go imo
20 odd people say he has mate. Think you might be pissing in the wind. It's funny, I said to the Mrs years ago that Raab looked like one of those aggressive bully types, sort of person that would bully his own wife.
I've had quite a bit of experience of managing people over the years and also of being managed by bullies. It's my firm opinion that anybody who treats people like pieces of dirt, whether it be everybody or certain individuals, is a very poor manager and insecure in their own abilities. They are also highly unlikely to get the best out of their staff. Raab is plainly a **** and a useless one at that.
A poor manager is one thing, a bully is another. One factor you have to add into Raab's case is that it appears that increasingly, the civil servants choose to go their own way and not as directed by ministers. Brexit was a good example. There have been a lot of reports of senior civil servants seeking to thwart Brexit undemocratically. That would lead to ministers having to take a hard line with them. I imagine this will come out in the forthcoming report on Raab
What nonsense. Brexit indeed! Raab is plainly a bully. One Tory minister has been quoted as saying that everyone in Westminster knew it - apart from Sunak of course. Raab's a dead man walking and deservedly so.
Rates have gone up to 4% now! That's the highest they've been since the last Labour government when the rate grew from 3.5% in 2003 and rose to 5.75% in 2007. Will this Tory government see rates go above 5.75%?
It’s an easy formula, people like Meghan and Bercow who have been accused, enemies of the daily fail brigade… definitely guilty. Torys na course not.
