Juddmonte have released their mating plans: Frankel, the sire of nine individual top-level winners last year and 26 Group or Grade 1 winners overall, is set to receive 25 black-type performers or producers. These are headed by top-flight winners Emollient, the dam of Group 2 winner Raclette, Emulous, Juliet Foxtrot and Viadera; as well as Group 1 producers Bird Flown, the dam of Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Siskin, Nimble Thimble, dam of Fillies' Mile winner Quadrilateral, and Repose, whose Prix Ganay, Prince of Wales's Stakes and Cox Plate-winning son State Of Rest is new to Rathbarry Stud for 2023. Group or Grade 2 winners set to visit the dual world champion include Rockfel Stakes winner Isabella Giles, Arizona’s full-sister Nay Lady Nay, Sapphire Stakes winner Soffia; and Starformer, the dam of stakes winner Flavius. Other stakes producers who will be covered by the son of Galileo include Flare Of Firelight, the dam of Gimcrack and Champagne Stakes winner Threat, and Portodora, dam of Grade 2 winner and Grade 1-placed Set Piece. In the rest of the family, Frankel’s full sister CHIASMA goes to Dubawi (she’s due to him this year too) and their half-sister JOYEUSE goes to No Nay Never (due to Wootton Bassett having produced a colt to the same sire in 2022).
Sad news to report, Sogann, who is due to have his first runners this year, has died following an accident. https://www.racingpost.com/bloodsto...ccident-at-north-yorkshire-stud-aG9Zo5J2arW2/
A few other pics of Strad. He did look well, though he is definitely on the smaller side compared to the others on show. He was listed at 15.3hh but I think that may have been with shoes on
