5er on debut. Top it off with a win and couldn’t ask for a better debut.

we should win from here and although not the strongest Pakistan team in memory, a 3-0 away win would be mightably impressive especially given where we were a year ago.

Pakistan look like england used to. Know they've lost and just going through motions.

England just smashing it. 100 runs left to get.

so.... ignoring the reuslt today which is inevitable:

Summing up this as who's done what

Crawley: scored well and quickly where the pitches suites but also got out another guy whos age i suppose is forgotten with the criques get hande dout but conditions did favour batting. an naverage tour probably?

Duckett as opener - a long way round to recover from various issues but as a 28 year old coming in as opener it really could not have gone better for him. loved playing spin for sure. Ducket scored quickly but averages ok for an opener.

Brook - 23 and clearly next big thing for the writers. obviously comes across as a hero with the bat here. again as seeing every aspect of spin and having a field day. he scored massively.

Pope - has had an ok showing. one century but otherwise a 60 and a 51. showed some flexibility in wicket keeping and fielding too.

root? hasn't had a lot to be chuffed about tbh. got a few wickets being the reserve spin but has only had one half century.

The "top order" then would have had a good time overall and brought in duckett and brook to add to bairstow and pope and root.

leech, a 2, 3 and 2 4 fors and a lot of bowling work here on tracks that spin was needed on.

anderson a 4 for on a terrible pitch the highlight. a lot of hard work to get anyhting in these conditions.

robinson as per anderson a 4 for as well. a lot of hard work and needed for him to get back to speed imo.

special mention Ahmed for a 5 for there today.

In general they'll all be pleased with winning all before them but this is all building towards the summer so having a couple more options in the openers and seeing the upper order filling in a bit will help the side.

Bowling wise england will have theres work cut out fitting it round stoke's knee and anderson's age. It'll be interesting to see where they can bring in archer and wood for the pace attack now.

55 runs for a whitewash on the sub-continent. Pick the ****ing bones out of that! Rehan can surely only get better? Warne picked him aged 13 <laugh>

Have England played more tests than other nations? It certainly seems like we played a load.

    I think so
tbh most other countries can barely sell tickets for tests anymore which may have something to do with it .

Oh and if you think we like quick tests the Convicts beat the Yarpies inside 2 days with 19 wickets falling on day 2 <laugh>

Edit : I'm shocked by the news that the pitch has been marked as "below average"

    odi v SA.

    SA 298/7 off 50.

Curran has helped again to restrict a side that got a great start 111 from Van der Dussen

299 to win is a big enough score but not out of the usual these days. a run a ball with england to bat shortly and i'm off home :)

it was a decent first innings score.

we are always going to struggle brining in a couple like archer.

long term gain, short term pain.
