Southampton FC@SouthamptonFC #SaintsFC defender Lewis Payne has joined Eastleigh on loan for the rest of the season. I am thinking that the J J Morgan saga is the last straw, a young player on the verge of first team appearances, appears to have demanded large wages, to sign a contract, and has gone to Chelsea, where he will probably disappear in to oblivion, he obviously didn't talk to Tyler Dibling about his experience? Maybe he is going to be a new superstar, who knows?
All depends on the add ons. Reads to me like that is the max we could get, not £6m up front then add ons
Ironically all this being said about Jones not liking the youngsters because he prefers aggression and pace.. Jones could be the making of small. He fits a Jones type player, Big strong and pacey.

https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...d-united-premier-league-cup-3rd-february-2023 Compare Dom Ballards attitude with the player in similar circumstance to him, i.e. J J Morgan.
As much as I think the club could have done more to demonstrate a path way for the current set of B teams players who are performing really well and a lot of them are players in positions where our first team players are not performing, we can’t give in to 16/17 years old who demand first team football. I’m sure there are examples to the contrary, but of the recent academy players who have had a lot of hype and kicked up, Janketwitz, Slattery. It’s not really gone well. Hudson-Odoi has been a player to threaten and sulk and his career has yet to take off despite the talent. JJ might not have kicked off at all, Chelsea just came in with a big money offer and he would be foolish to turn it down, the truth hasn’t really come out on that one.

This is why I can't at all begrudge young players who want to get paid. How many kids have we had whose careers were ruined by injury before they had a chance to establish themselves? It's easy from the outside to tell them to just wait their chance, but through no fault of their own, many will never get that chance. They're at a place where clubs are willing to pay millions of pounds to acquire their rights...they should be fairly well-compensated.
