He was a good source then. I heard he signed last night. If he hasn't actually signed the contract then he's either changed his mind or failed the medical. An attempt was definitely made to sign him yesterday.
I read on twitter that Olympiacos and his club took too long to cancel the existing loan they had and the deal ran out of time... No idea if that is true.
Hopefully it's a case of we completed the deal and it'll become a formality in the summer. The guy seems like a real talent and hopefully we don't have others sniffing around in the meantime.
I can never understand how clubs allow these deals to be done so late that they're at risk of missing the deadline. You have a whole month and end up missing it, so a player who's not playing currently and wanted to be here, and who we obviously wanted, ends up sat on his arse for 6 months instead. I'm sure there must be a reason for leaving it so late, but it just seems so careless to me.
.. and why the system / rules are so tight that they don't somehow allow for these sort of administrative hiccups. Meaning if it's clear that the player and the clubs involved intended for the signing to be made, but some administrative delay is the issue, why it can't still go through. It doesn't help the player nor the clubs involved. Surely the authorities should have the best interests of the player and clubs in mind.
To be honest by the time I’d heard of him we’d already missed him…so I’m struggling to feel disappointed. Seems a pretty good window overall really. Any Championship clubs had a better one? (That’s a genuine question by the way)
Apparently he absolutely loves the kid, thinks he has real quality and wants to work with him. No surprise at all that he's gone. He was never going to make it. Decent move for him; not sure he's even L1 standard though.
No-one is bragging. If you don't want people to post then we might as well close the forum down. As it happened everyone was wrong because of things out of the clubs control. He certainly hadn't signed weeks ago as was claimed, and the club thought the deal was over the line last night, and for the record I think Cooper does a decent job although some of his space fillers midweek border on the negative. It's speculation, it's rumour, it has a bit of truth thrown in for good measure and it's why we log onto this and other forums to read it.
No issues on our end, it was the failure to release him from his loan as the French Federation had shut for the night.
Because players become available late in the window through a domino effect of other moves either being completed or clubs realising they need to shift players out. Opportunities pop up at the last minute that weren't there previously and you can get bargains if you're looking.
But some do appear to brag, they seem to revel in their ITK status, just loving it when they can get one over the local sports journalist. He like everyone else sees and hears bits of info that may or may not be 100% accurate, the difference is he has to put his speculation and guesswork in the local paper using his real name, it's his job.
