Meant defensively as well. Stewart (and Simms when he was here) helped out a lot on defensive corners. Only Batth in the team over 6ft now I think.
Im really excited to see him play, quality player who i think we will love. Works so hard and is a decent finisher
Baath n ballard will be key. Suppose hume n alese or cirkin are all good in the air but agree about stewart in particular he was great defending set pieces
Do we really need ‘the right player’? We were never going to remedy our injury crisis on 48hrs notice with a perfect replacement, so for the sake of a 20y/o lad bearing all the responsibility up front, give the kid a hand. Even a plodder with the slightest bit of experience on a short-term deal would score in this team.
Max Thompson is another winger I think, although Cotcher is a centre forward and so is Harry Gardiner for u21. Think we have another centre forward at u18 alongside Cotcher but can’t remember his name. Will be good to see them get some experience around the first team anyway.
As lads have said: We're playing good football We have an exciting team that will only improve We're not getting relegated We're out of league one We've just given a good premier league team a proper game with no Stewart for most of the match, We've two new forwards We scored a canny few goals with no strikers over a period (we do have a striker now!) It could be worse and usually has been I'm chilled about it
Why bring in a plodder tho? If the right player isnt available then lets develop our quality youngsters
Im admitting defeat, cant keep refreshing it so away to bed lol Heres hoping we have simms n a cdm signed when i wake up
Honestly thought we'd bring a couple of names in today, but the lack of names/rumours etc meant it wasn't to be. Oh well, here we go with the last 18 games.
Vastly important last hour. Unlikely now but just have to hope. It's a massive disappointment. It's not an under 8s sport day, you don't get credit for trying and planning. It's professional sports with millions on the line and a fanbase with raising expectations. Delivering and executing is why these lot are in the jobs they are. We literally don't have a fit striker we own. Our own manager who is very much a company fella and believes in the youth said last week we need help and need experience. In the last week we have lost 3 of our most senior pros on the dressing room /on the pitch (Wright, Stewart and Evans). All players whos experience and stature has helped knit the younger players together. They are got and have been replaced by players who have not played senior minutes. We have 1 player, a 10, not a 9 who we will have to expect to play every minute in a gruelling championship Feb to May. It won't happen and it's realistically impossible. Could get a sharp injury with not been playing much, likely. Then what? Back to Jack Clarke up top ? Last time this happened we plummeted down the league and form was abysmal. Maybe even bottom of the form table. We have had 2 years to sort this and we havnt. Literally no other permanent striker bought. Speakman and recruitment have made some good calls but not getting some experience and a number 9 option is absolute failure. No other way to dress it up. Just a massive opportunity missed. We are in with a possibility of play off positions and we have absolutely left ourselves criminally short.
There is some proper entitled, modern football fan behaviour starting to creep in among some of our fans mind. Our recruitment is not costing us a shot at the playoffs, it's our recruitment that has given us a shot at the playoffs, which is well above any reasonable expectations that we could have this season.
Spurs have not only loaned out Doherty to Athletico but they have ****ed his contract off all together according to SSN. £30m ish written off?
