That I great news if it's true. Especially for Ross himself. Critical time for him IMO. I'd like to see us put that new contract on the table for him now. Injured or not, that's what I'd do. It will give him a massive personal boost, a sense of security and deal with a lingering matter. And we'd still have a gell of a player when he gets back.
I wouldn't go that far. We have Amad, Gelhardt, Lihadji. Clarke can do a job there also. Plus there's no real pressure to get promoted this year, and relegation is probably off the cards. I wouldn't be tearing up our wage structure / recruitment method to get a body in the door, personally.
Looks like Everton are really struggling to sign anyone so Simms return is looking less likely , perhaps our old gaffer could do us a favour with Nisbet perhaps worth a risk from Hibs . Money talks so a decent offer might persuade them to sell - not our model but at this late stage we might have to deviate , he has a good goal scoring record - dare I say better than Stewart had when we signed him so for the money he would cost might be worth the risk .
Stewart's latest injury has come right at the end of the transfer window, the timing couldn't be worse! We are in with a good shout of a play-off place, but imho, only if we have strikers who can bang in the chances we create. The timing of the injury, translates for me as very expensive. I am fairly certain we have some forward targets in mind. We just have to bite the bullet, as it were and accept the poor hand we have been dealt with and pay over the odds for the players we need.
@Scottwilsonecho ⚪️ DEADLINE DAY: Interest in Bailey Wright is mounting. Hibs still want the #SAFC defender despite the signing of CJ Egan-Riley from Burnley yesterday, Portsmouth have been in regular contact and Rotherham have now also been linked...
This is exactly the type of awful transfer business that plagued the Short and Donald eras. What the **** are you talking about
Hasn't had a decent season since 17/18, but I'd still take him over nobody at all. At least he's more in the mould of Stewart and would compliment Gelhardt. I agree it's pure desperation at this point.
Geldhart is the only one we know can cut it as a striker and even he’s never been a regular scorer. None of them are bigger than 5’9. Would be good to have another option of an all out striker who’s a bit bigger and can hold the ball up if we need to switch things up.
Zohore would be much better than nothing, and would be good hold up to bring the wingers into play. We'd need those wingers to chip in with more goals though.
We have a hole, we need to fill it, cough up the cash for a decent replacement i am sure the recruitment team have a list. If an emergency happens, you have to take urgent measures. Or are you just making excuses for Speakman and Co not being up to the job... ie are you a bot?
I agree with this and although it would be great to have an experienced replacement for Ross, I wonder what supporters would feel if this happened say next week. I would like to add as I am really enjoying this season partially due to there being no pressure to get promotion and winning a good few games. I feel we should only get another striker if it's a good fit for the club and not panic into someone who does not fit the model. However I think Speak deserves our trust to keep to the process and get any deals right.
As I’ve just mentioned above, none of them are out and out strikers and none of them are above 5’9. Geldhart is the only one who’s played as a striker and hasn’t really scored many goals. If it doesn’t work for him we have no plan B. Why would we play Diallo out of position when he’s thriving behind the striker? Makes absolutely no sense you wouldn’t put Harry Kane in centre midfield to fit Richarlison into the strikers role.
