I agree, on paper I think we have a cracking starting 11, and a reasonable bench, there are just too many players going through the motions at present. We do need a NO.9 but I also think Dykes pretends to be **** at times

Apparently, from radio reports I heard, one of the best players on the pitch.

I think part of our problem is there are always better options in the Championship for players being loaned out and we can't compete wage-wise with the majority of clubs. We therefore need to have a far better scouting system, particularly on the continent, that would find players that aren't just coming to us to go through the motions but to actually make a difference. Same applies in managerial appointments...

Brexit now restricts us recruiting European players who haven't accrued enough points from Professional or their Nation's team, as Paal had done. Must make it a costly process for UK Clubs to do Europe wide, and ones like us probably can only afford to follow up in a few Countries like Holland.

Translates ... QPR have established themselves as leaders in the race to sign the young striker of Leeds Mateo Joseph. A large number of Championship clubs are interested in the Spanish player, including #safc #ccfc #bfc . Joseph is a well-known player among the coaches in Spain...

Good to see some possible activity on the striker front but this one is only 19-years old and only 5' 11". I thought we needed someone who would be good in the air and hold the ball up... a bit like Dykes only with the ability to score a few goals.

Another I know well. Too inexperienced for the level we require. Geldhart would have been my choice but that ship has sailed

With Dykes being in hospital with pneumonia as of yesterday anyway, surely we do now need a striker who is good in the air. We've got 2 days to do it, unless we are prepared to risk going for an out of contract player.

Yes, that was exactly my point: only 5' 11" and 19-years old is not going to scare many Championship defenders.

Just watched Paul Mullin of Wrexham terrorise Sheff utd. 28 years old and scored 60 in 78 for them.

It's the same group of players or core group that started brightly for Warbs but fell apart as soon as times got tough. The same group who got us to top spot under Beale and then hit the skids. And it's the same group now. I think there's some deep rooted psychological frailty in this team that no amount of coaching can fix. Critchley has been handed a team already in a downward spiral, not saying he's entirely free of blame but these players should do better.

Let's be honest Beale has ****ed us and ****ed us good and proper.

Paul Mullin was a hero at Cambridge, when they got promoted to League One he dropped two divisions for better wages at Wrexham.

He has been good at that level, but so is Paul Smyth and many others.

I'm not saying no, but he's been around those divisions for a good few years, there may be a reason why he's never gone higher?

He'll be on more money at Wrexham than we could pay him, they don't have to worry about FFP and are bankrolled by Hollywood...

He's 5 foot 10 according to Wiki. Is he good in the air? With Dykes out we need someone who is.

It's an advantage to be able to vary your game a bit isn't it? Opposition Managers and Players will have you sussed if you never put high balls into the final third because you don't have a forward good in the air. Equally you're going to be predictable if your main weapons are mostly high balls for big strikers. The latter is never going to apply to us with no Dykes or a replacement for him. It was very apparent Saturday how much worse we were going forward without Dykes, also at dead ball situations at the back.
