It's a proper gutter. Literally don't think there is another injury that would take the amount of healing time. Zero chance to rush it either.
I knew I hadn't dreamt it. Even if we sign a striker, neither him or Gelhardt can play in the replay.
We are still probably underdogs even at home and although it would be nice to win its still a no pressure game in my opinion. Gives TM the chance to try something different AND as we have seen anything is possible with this team
Wasn't it his thigh that he damaged in the warm up at Boro, not his hamstring? Anyway, it looks like his achieves so will have to wait for scan results.
It's ****ing awful for him as a person. I'm almost past worrying about Sunderland now. He genuinely might never play professional football again. That's not scaremongering - but its a genuinely plausible outcome of this. Especially if he's rushed back in any way. I have no idea what happens in contract negotiations now. Clearly we HAVE to stand by him. But at what salary level? Do we still offer him what we were offering and just hope he is able to return to his previous? I think I would but its not cut and dry.
Pretty sure they know its a bad achilles. Just hoping for a different story from the scan, but it's doubtful. You know when you've knacked that bassa.
I'd be signing him. Some compromise on the terms perhaps, but we have to do right by the lad. He has thrown himself into the club and has earned some help. Id also like to think that looking after him properly would be another reason for players wanting to come, or stay here.
Totally agree. Plus, the players will have gotten so much confidence/experience from that game with the way we played. We didn't sit back and hoof the ball but played some great football. NB apart from Baath our finishing eleven was like an u21/3 team as well, so imagine how far they can go. SO PROUD OF THEM
