Oh **** off. We should be prepared to pay a huge loan fee, plus all his wages to get him to come here.
Forest have so many attacking players that they already can’t fit into a system. Of course he would be an upgrade but it is a bit crazy Not sure why Newcastle want rid. I don’t think they have the biggest squad and don’t seem like they should be in a one in one out situation I wonder whether Chelsea have another transfer ban incoming. They have just agreed a second transfer that won’t go through until the summer. That or they are just doing a comprehensive rebuild
If only to stop him always tearing us a new one. Plus we love a left winger. Still, not quite believing this one from the Newcastle point of view. Let’s see if it happens.
It's been rumored for a few days now. I laughed it off when I first came across it on Tuesday. But now that they look like they're getting Gordon, maybe there is something in it. Fortunately, Forest can't loan him (due to loaning Wood from Newcastle already). They would have to buy.
Could just Van Dijk it and take the pay rise for 6 months then force the move later, also would help Brighton get a higher fee (obviously needs to check if Arsenal/someone else would actually pay a higher fee)
Surely the World Cup unusually held in the middle of the season, rather than the summer has had an effect? Many players coming back to the same-old, a transfer window is opening almost immediately and they're hankering for the buzz of bigger things. With all the knock on effects, its seems very busy for the winter window.
Interesting seeing the general football world / media reaction to Brighton and Caicedo moving on….. most of what I see is extremely sympathetic to Brighton about what’s happened to them. Whereas when it was us in the same position a few years ago I remember it being far more critical of “letting” players go
Hadn’t noticed until you pointed it out but it does feel very different; “poor Brighton being preyed upon”… maybe it’s because it isn’t Liverpool single-handedly destroying them? Anyway, I’m not seeing the usual “blocking players moving” reaction we always seem to have.
Totally agree. I think it’s because it’s not liverpool doing the chasing. Half the mainstream football media is ex-liverpool players so they were all trying to help force moves in our case Honestly can’t be arsed with the premier league anymore tbh. What’s the point? As soon as a smaller club has half a good season, the big clubs get their stained dirty blood money out and take everyone. It’s not a sport, it’s a wallet measuring contest
You sound like someone who supports a team that’s out of form, haha. Premier League isn’t perfect, but it’s a whole lot more competitive than Scottish Prem, Bundesliga, Ligue Un… If the Big 6 ceased to exist tomorrow, sure it would be fun for a few seasons, but eventually another group of teams would take their place.
I'd love us to buy a Pelle/SRL type, a tall focal point, good finisher with head and feet. I think that it would bring out the best in our current strikers too.
Having failed to find Lamelle on the sunlit uplands whistling down a coal mine might prove fruitful. It'll be the easiest deal ever to do, we hold all the cards.
I agree. But eventually fifa/uefa/PL will need to do something like a wage cap or draft structure like the NFL. If Chelsea can spend half a billion in half a season from now on, the game will die as a sport
It is basically impossible to replicate the draft structure in the Premier League/football in general. The salary cap I’m not sure, I think I read something that it would break certain employment laws in the EU but that might just be BS, and if it isn’t adopted globally with the same caps etc then it wouldn’t work
