Totally understand what your saying but can we pick when we want to get promoted? Apart from Burnley and probably Sheff U there are about 10 teams still in the mix for the play offs. Its a difficult one and I can understand both points of view. For what its worth and on what I have seen this season I am now in the lets bloody go for it camp.
It's no suprise the teams around us Watford, WBA, Sheff united, Norwich and Burnley have all been the the Premiership in recent years and used the millions of pounds that theyve earned to be bigger, better and stronger. Even if we did come straight back down, financially we would be streets ahead from where we are now. The longer we stay in this league, the longer we miss out from a financial windfall
I just hope we get a good fee for Stewart ( in the summer, not now). I'd be gutted to see him go but I think it's really important to start selling players for profit. Need the revenue coming in. Scouting have shown they can spend money well.
Big ask having no experience in midfield and only really Bathh on the pitch to bark orders. Klopp hit the nail on the head when he was speaking about Henderson, and a LOT of football fans including a few lads I know who are mags, changed their opinion of him during COVID when the matches were televised with no fans or fan noise and all you could hear was Henderson barking orders at everyone on the pitch. It’s like having a coach on the pitch. I don’t think anyone would argue that Evans is technically much better than some of the younger lads but what you don’t need is heads to drop when things aren’t going our way and no characters in there to pick the team up when needed.
Hmm, I seem to recall someone once said " You will never, win out with kids" I do not know how much we will have to spend, if the lonees are good we will buy them. Amad? Some of the "kids" will be good enough, some of the others not so. Strikers are expensive and difficult to come by, one of not two, not sure about ..we will need to bolster the defence also. We presumably get a bigger chunk of cash, how much? In the Premier league
Something me and my mates have discussed back and forward for a few weeks now. Personally I don't see the downside of going up. As long as we don't go daft and just keep the same philosophy of building the club. We may come straight back down but what have we lost. The players have had a taste of the big time are hopefully better for it and we are £100m plus better off. Whenever you go up to the Prem its always a real battle to stay there We could build for 3 more years and still come straight back down. If the opportunity is there take it.
I am here to be shot down but I dont think this is a major blow anymore. A blow yes, but not a massive one. I like Evans, he does a lot of good work, and he is a good organiser. I have thought this season though he has been played around a bit and Neil has looked the more effective defensively and in terms of sensing danger. Michut, to me, looks a talent to be let loose. I think he has loads of ability on the ball and great vision. Him and Neil could be an unbelieveable pair. Mistakes will happen with youth, and for will dip at times, so lads to come in from time to time. But I think two footballers in there, who can cut passing angles and get a foot in when needed is the way forward for us. It might just be pivotal, although gutted for Evans and I am not trying to do him down.
If we go up then it becomes much easier to hang on to Stewart, Neil, etc. Dropping back down with parachute money once all the young ‘uns have a taste of premiership football and been in shop window could set us back a long way. Honestly don’t know what would be better. I’ll just take promotion whenever and however we can get it.
100% yes. He is a work in progress but players with his technical ability and vision will go a long way. He is on the half turn, passes are always crisp and seems to have a decent sense of game awareness.
