    Quite the character.

If this was Maddison, the excitement would be palpable. But it's Gordon - everyone's just kind of looking at each other saying "I thought we were ambitious?". It's no more than an Ashley signing.

I am on the fence with Gordon. I would not want to spend more than £30M on him but he does have potential. As a playing style, he fits the mould that Eddie is looking for in the team and I reckon he would be an upgrade on Miggy. That being said, I would much rather stick with Miggy an sign Maddison.

I suspect we will keep our powder dry until the summer window. It would be a bit of a risk and would likely see us drop out of the top 4 but we shall see. The only player I want is Maddison!

Gordon might end up being a tremendous player... Dan Burn wasn't exactly an exciting signing and hes been outstanding.

People in the game obviously rate Gordon very highly hence Chelseas interest .

Look at ekitike go now at psg

Meh, Stephen Ireland was at Man City for over 2 years after the money came in, transition takes time, and remember we have constraints City didn't.

Murphy, Laecelles and Ritchie are the last of the old guard and only make appearances from the bench, team is completely transformed from the one that started last season.

Having said that, we really seriously need another striker right now. One who isn't Gordon.

Burn was always solid and dependable at Brighton, in contrast, the Everton fans hate Gordon.

I don't care what Everton fans think tbh mate I believe the scouts and people in the game know what the player is and isn't.

Everton fans are now deranged to the point their judgement should be completely ignored imo.

I've seen Gordan play very well and I'm.pretry sure with better players in a high press he'll shine... he's one of the fastest most tenacious players around... good skills and passing , but end prod is poor though

We need to trust the people that do this for a living ... and so far newcastle recruitment has been outstanding.

Gordon and Everton's relations soured months ago, his form has dipped since and now he doesn't even want to play there.

So their opinion on him as a pure talent isnt exactly trustworthy and they're in general a bunch of ****s anyway

    Family club though <laugh>

Possibly a moneyball type signing by Ashworth, using statistics to improve in an area where we are lacking.

Why are fans bashing him before he’s even signed, could turn out to be a cracking player in the right team. We had written big Joe off until he was Eddied. I know he seems a cnut but all good teams need a cnut or two.

I'm not that excited at the prospect of signing Gordon, but if that's who Eddie wants then so be it. If...

I'd prefer us to sign nobody than the wrong person. We're still not as big a pull as a lot on here seem to think we are. Getting the wrong player in now, on high wages and a decent contract no doubt, just ties up money and squad space that we could use better later.

Depends how much Everton are willing to drop the price, they’re ****ed for money and he wants out so I’d imagine we hold all the cards.

I think he'll be a good signing... he's probably wanted out Everton all season..

We play the perfect game for him.... he's similar to Almiron imo but is younger and has more potential
