Good Morning. It's Wednesday 25th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    McKennie discussing terms with Orta

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported that Victor Orta is discussing personal terms with Juve's combative midfielder Weston McKennie as behind the scene negotiations continue with 'the Old Lady'. The update comes after media outlet 90min.com reported that a number of top flight English teams, including Leeds have been offered his services on a try before you buy basis.

The combative 24yo midfielder has slipped down the pecking order at the Allianz Stadium, and could be available at a cut-down price. If Leeds were to make the move, they would only need Pulisic to complete an all American National midfield line-up.

Foxes line up audacious Harrison bid

With only six days of the transfer window open, Leicester City have been linked with an audacious £35m bid for Jack Harrison. The 26yo has recently been enjoying a new lease of life in a more central role allowing Gnonto to terrorise his opponents down the left wing. On his day Harrison can be unplayable, but these occasions have been few and far between this campaign. We must also remember that he has less than 18 months left on his three year contract, though contract talks with his agent remain encouraging.

Leeds certainly won't let him leave without a replacement being lined up. The breaking news regarding Weston McKennie would certainly add credence to the Leicester story. Would you swap the services of Harrison for McKennie?

Leeds face Accrington Stanley in the Cup at the weekend

Jesse Marsch was among the crowd, to watch Accrington Stanley beat Boreham Wood last night, though it took extra time, and a penalty to separate them. It means that Leeds face a last minute trip down to the Wham Stadium at the weekend (Saturday at 12:30pm), hoping to reach the last sixteen for the first time since 2013. The Owd Reds beat the young Whites (U21's) a couple of seasons ago 7-0. There's a fair chance, Leeds will get their revenge.

If mckennie is available loan to buy, that looks like it would be good business.

not really a swap for Jack though

Harrison.. although he can be infuriating, (unlike a lot of Leeds fans) I like Jack. And I quite like him centrally, as he’s always lacked the pace to hit the byline, but he has great first touch/control.

That said we have a lot of attacking options and if the money is really good and/or he doesn’t want to extend his contract then…

For me though our attacking options are young and still inexperienced and I’d like to have Jack for the run in.

I get it hard to make my mind up on Jack. He seems to disappear for a few games and just when you're becoming critical of him, he's back with a couple of great performances. As for McKennie, I know nothing about him so can't comment. Would be happy with a loan deal with option to buy. No lose situation. Already said on many occasions, the cup means a lot to me but for historical moments. Whenever I think back to outstanding Leeds moments, Clarkeys goal against Arsenal is close to the top. Unfortunately several other crappy cup memories also stuck in the brain

One thing we might need to keep an eye on is the home grown talent rule is it 6 or 8 in a 25 man squad.

Just follow Chelsea’s example. Doesn’t seem to impact them a whole lot

Yeah none more than that defeat at Colchester, must have been early seventies, first time i actually had tears in my eyes over a football match.
Back in the days when the FA CUP realy meant something and teams actually fielded their strongest side, no matter what round it was. So a cup upset really was a cup upset.
    Good morning to you all.

McKennie hates Juventus because they are setting up as defending side and that’s not how the US national plays, he is a box to box workhorse and can play DM or either wing. Great acquisition if it comes off

Well who knows if it will happen… but really positive he wants to come. Already turned down 2 Prem teams allegedly.

I’d be very happy if we got him.

The owner has stuck a load of money in to the ground development the last few years. It's a nice little old school football ground with a decent little atmosphere. The end terrace is open with no roof but the stand along the touchline is seated and covered. I believe they have plenty of kiosks selling pies and beer over there too but I've not been in that side since covid pandemic. I usually sit in the "posh" stand opposite.

I believe that the police won't let Leeds fans use the sports bar inside the ground so they'll have to drink in the pubs around town or the kiosks inside the perimeter.. The Crown pub is right next to the ground and many fans go in there pre and post match.

Pitch is usually a bit bobbly this time of year I can tell you that for certain. Should be a good old fashioned cup tie on a crap pitch.

The rule is a maximum of 17 none home grown players in a squad. Players aged under 21 the season commences don't count towards the registered squad. Thus to have a 25 man registered squad, you must have 8 home grown players included

If you have less than 8 homegrown players registered, then the maximum size of the squad is reduced. Thus you can have a maximum squad of 24 with 7 homegrown players, or even a maximum squad of 17 with no home players.

At the start of the season we had a registered squad of 21 of which 7 would be classed as homegrown players ( so we have scope to sign another 3 none homegrown players)

The squad has to be declared again once the January transfer window shuts, so at present our squad size has reduced by one, with McAlmont (who was classed as homegrown) now on loan at Carlisle, and Wober from a squad numbers point of view has replaced Klich. So we presently have a registered squad of 20, of which 6 are homegrown, so are still able to add 3 non homegrown players to the squad
