It seems as if just being near to Che Adams was enough to make Newcastle to become hilariously bad at scoring clear chances.

Lucky to still be in the tie, but Alcaraz and Edozie look good so some positives.

Desperately need a striker to join before the Brentford game though

You last won the FA Cup in 1955
You last won the league in 1927

    We bow to your magnificence!

How was that not a yellow card, for ungentlemanly conduct. It was when Victoria were a lass.

I'd be up for allowing them to have that game 2-0 just to have these pundits shut up about that Joelinton disallowed goal. They so want it to be allowed. Its really upset them. Is up there with most irrelevant discussion point of the season. But when Les Ferdinand and Shay Given are your pundits, you need something to stop people nodding off.

    Well that was frustrating.

A decent finisher and we'd have at least a draw. Alcarez impressive.

At no point in that match did we look like scoring a goal, let alone winning. Newcastle just had to bide their time, then score from a half chance. Who wasn’t marking Joelinton when he scored? Too many slow passes, too many misplaced passes. At least we came second.

True. Alcaraz a real positive - and impressed he stayed on the pitch with that yellow on his head for a large majority of the game. C-C took two solid yellow cards - was a choice of being 3-0 with him still on the pitch, or 1-0 with him off. He took two for the team there.

Either way, whatever happens in the next leg, I like what I saw today, and sometimes you just have to accept it's someone else's time to lose in the final to Man U.

Fault for the goal was with DCC. Got absolutely bamboozled by a straightforward piece of skill by Isak. Maybe should have brought Perraud on when Howe subbed on Isak and ASM.

Think we can still put out a decent second team against Blackpool.

Beddie and Baddie (Lyanco) at CB. Perraud is rested. Lavia rested. Alcaraz and Orsic need more game time. Mara too. Maybe put a youngster in for a game instead of Djenepo.

Away fans in the home stands again.

My old man said he saw some geordies get jumped after they celebrated their goal in the Kingsland.

I’m sure the club will somehow find a way to blame season ticket holders again.

Does anyone know if DCC misses Blackpool or the 2nd leg? Hope it’s the former.

Not even when Adarma had the ball in the net?

Didn't we look like scoring then?

Newcastle look seriously good, but we were absolute **** in the first half.

Much better in the second until our third disallowed goal on the trot, we seem to be lacking luck as well.

Some of our players had excellent games and some were dire.

Alcaraz was a particular highlight, A Armstrong and Edozie really boosted us for a while. Orsic a bit anonymous but early days.

1-0 at St James will be a tough ask but it’s not over at least.

    Just got home. Few thoughts.

    - Best game Diallo has ever played for us.

    - Like the look of Alcaraz.

    - Salisu had a decent game I thought.

    - **** VAR

    - Thought KWP was poor in attacking sense (by his standards at least)

    - Don't see us going through now, though get an early goal and who knows.

    - Think we played okay overall, better side in second half anyway. Draw wouldn't have been unfair imo.

    - Ref favoured them down here even so we know what to expect up there.

    - It's not football anymore.

SPLASH THE CASH ON A STRIKER SAINTS. EVEN A PUNT (NOT A CARILLO TYPE PUNT). There's the makings of a good team there if someone can (create and) convert chances. We don't capitalise when we're on top leading to huge pressure on the defence.
