TM: "Our stadium was amazing today - that passion and noise was what I remember from Roker Park days. I hope the team played its part - it's some atmosphere here when it's like that."

Not long back at home having missed all the fun, many thanks for all the video uploads and comments, it's nearly like being at the game.
Seems we deserved the win, which is a pretty rare bird against this lot, which is all the nicer, well done one and all. OaU.

Fantastic days footy! I feared the worst when Evans went off but we were the better side throughout and the scoreline probably flatters them a bit.

It's the nearest we have now. The derby we used to have is gone. That team now represent a country not a city.

Thought we were well worth it.

Tactically we had their number and not many sides have done that recently. The high press was really effective and it starved quality balls up to Crooks to nod down for Akpom. Also the Amad/Roberts combo on the right really pinned Ryan Giles in who they've relied on to create for them a lot recently. We won the midfield battle, massive credit to Michut as he did superbly when he came on and Dan Neil bossed it again.

Had the feeling we'd rue those missed chances at half time, a couple of decent chances for Stewart and the Amad one... hit the target! The defining moment is the pen - standard Stewart aware of the situation and getting on to the long ball, theres contact. Its a decent save from Steffen but we get the fortune and it falls for a tap in, we've been owed that against Boro mind. After that we controlled the ball but had a really annoying spell where we played like the game was won, the tempo dropped right off and it allowed Boro a couple of chances - the Mcgree one looked ridiculously close.

We needed the second and Amad comes up with a moment of quality again to win it. I'll enjoy my day tomorrow going into work at a school down there!

A lot to like about that today. Could have been out of sight at half time really, and for twenty minutes or so after the first it looke certain we'd score again.

Some excellent displays today. Everyone looked to have the better of their opposite number. Anyone of about six for MOM.

Thought Akprom looked really good for them , but he just didn't see enough of the ball.

Well that was decent. We were totally dominant when it was 11v11 and bizarrely we took our foot off the gas for 20 mins after we scored.
Realistically we could and should have been 3 up at HT and I was surprised how poor Boro were

    Happy days.

Dan Neil excellent today, but a word for Trai Hume who gets better and better with each game. The lad was everywhere today

Quite a comfortable win today, should have been 3 up at H.T.
3 points in the back pocket thank you very much , and a relaxing F.A. Cup weekend next Saturday. Its not a derby

Top performance and thought Aji had a fine game on his return. Hope his injury wasn't too serious.
