Thanks for that great preview RTB and looking at the heads to head, we could be due a right spanking by the fookers, i hope we keep a clear head, and let the footy do the talking. You know they will be antagonising us by ankle taping and niggly fouls, hoping for an outbreak of retaliation, unless they have changed their ways. an early goal or 2 will settle the nerves and let the footy flow
Its frustrating that we're playing a team like Boro who have barely had a single injury to any key players all season and yet again we're missing half a team of players that could/would probably start if fit. It's a curse we have to deal with every single season it seems, and I really cant fathom out how and why we are so unlucky with injuries all of the time?
True , cases in point are Duncan Watmore and Paddy Mc., both injury prone here but seem to play every time I watch Boro., I dont begrudge either of course and wish them well, but it is frustrating at the same time. It goes back a while too, if you remember my all time hero, never missed a game at Boro came here and broke his leg and our hearts.
Exactly mate, Catts was very injury prone for us too, but played week in week out for Boro and Wigan. It's really fecked us up this season when you look at the amount of games Simms(before his recall), Ballard, Sterwart, Cirkin, Pritch, Huggins and Alese have missed. Theyve all been unavailable more times than theyve been available.
I'm not confident about this one. They're one of the strongest teams in the division, in great form and our defence feels a little cobbled together. Any points would be a bonus for me.
Thanks RTB. Julio speaks really well - a lot of sense there. I liked where he said that north east fans always want more (due to the passion). Newcastle, Sunderland and Boro doing well but they need to remember where they were a year / 6 months ago, not demand x/y/z now and instead show patience.
Agree with this. Our forward players can definitely win us the game and I hope we go at them but I really worry about our defence, with the current injuries.
Also it's not like Gooch is a liability in defence. Most of the time he has a bad game it's because the guy ahead of him hasn't put the work in and he's left exposed.
Gooch will revel in this match. He'll be well up for it. The whole team will be wanting to prove a point after last time (and feel free to take the last time as either the last game against Boro or the game against Swansea.) Really looking forward to it.
1-3 no other result we are garbage at the back and Mowbray not signing any player will favour his 'home town club' what a fix this is, we are ****e under these owners and no confidence even with 42,000+ in the ground. Stretched to the limit but no signings typical, Simms still not replaced either. Mowbray will be having a piss up after they beat us.
Thanks again RTB for another fantastic thread. A very difficult game against a good side and an in form team. We've been up against it before underdogs before and given a good account of ourselves. These games are normally tight nervy games and I see no reason why this will be any different. I'm sure the lads will be up for it . I'm predicting a very tight game and hopefully 3 points for the lads. Keep the faith lads and lasses.
Nowt to fear here lads n Lasses, last time we played them at the SoL it was 3-3....and that was with safc's worst ever team.
Like you say, it's really hard to fathom out why our injury list is so high, and not niggly injuries either, always weeks or months, not just this season either. Can't be coincidence surely.
