Only because of fitness though. Would you not agree he’s the missing piece in our attacking play?

Didn't think we were naive, Connolly got under their skins as much as some of theirs got under ours.

Proper weird take this, he would have started the next game after a few goes off the bench.

Maybe he should have started him today so he could get sent off in the first half instead. <laugh>

At some point in the first half the commentator said their 2 full backs were bought from Derby for a combined £11 million. Thats just the full backs..

He is definitely the missing piece so include him from the start. He needs game time to gain fitness

Bizarre takes. Connolly looked excellent in his first start and still not up to full fitness, Slater drifted in and out of the game but worked hard and helped link the play up well in the first half. Coyle and Christie worked well together on the right.

Agree Jones and McLoughlin look a bit light on as a centre back pairing in this sort of fixture but other than the goal they held Sheff U out well.

I’m genuinely shocked at all the negativity. It’s gutting not to get any points but the team spirit and fight were there for all to see.

I liked what I saw from Connolly. Prepared to take a whack, let them know he's there which in turn takes attention away from Oscar.. ... he's not match sharp thats all... He might just be good for us.. we will see

We have clearly improved defensively, but still not doing enough in attack. Noticeable improvement when Tufan and Tetteh came on, they move the ball so much quicker. Red card was stupid and any chance of the draw was gone. Overall, expected to lose and no disgrace in that, but we are not that far away from being one of the top half teams.

When we get Malcolm on the other side we'll really stretch the width and create pockets of space to get in behind. Thought Longman looked excellent off the bench too. Everyone's praising Tetteh but think he had just as much if not more influence in running in behind the defence and unsettling them.

Yes, I get what you mean. I would love him to start too but I don’t think we can blame Rosenior for being cautious, given the injury record this season.

There’s just too much of a gulf between players like Seri and Tufan on the one hand and Slater and Coyle on the other. The former are already thinking about the next two or three passes in a passage of play before they even receive the ball whilst the latter just ponder on the ball.
