If NP was to rejoin us, and that's a big IF as I'm not entirely convinced he will, would he do any better than we are now? I just feel that even if Sir Alex himself took the reigns our luck the way it is we still would be playing great one day and total pants the next! Has any manager who has returned to a former club done any better the second time round? Whoever does come I hope and pray that he brings in some wide players.
Since Nigel was last here alot has changed The training ground has been done up, new owners, new team, new stadium name, new found wealth But 1 thing he still has is the support of the fans and he will get support from the owners too
As long as he doesn't nick our wide players I don't mind. Our owners are sensible enough to put a clause in his release saying he can't come back and poach our team away from us, as happened to us with Phil Parkinson when he left Colchester, so I probably wouldn't look into that too much, though I bloody worry, we have some real gems here in Chester, Rosenior and Stewart. One who I think he will certainly go for, specially if you're in the need for wide players, is Robbie Brady who's loan finishes with us in January. He blows hot and cold but has bags of skill and pace, just needs experience and he will be a top top winger. I was hoping we'd try get him on a permanent in January or at least extend his loan, but sceptical of that if Nigel returns to you. And in answer to your question, you never go back. There's the odd one or two success stories but majority of managerial returns are utter failures. Though as you say, alot has changed and they are very different circumstances there now. Lets just hope your players don't have the mercanary attitude or NP will be kicking them all out in a heartbeat.
We need width so if you do have any decent wingers then who knows what might hapen. We will be able to afford them and you know what young players are like when they are offer bid wages, they jump at the chance to move clubs
Hence why I mentioned the 'You aint coming poaching' clause. With your big money though, we would charge well over the going rate anyway, and with Nigel being a 'man of integrity' he would soon leave us be I'd imagine. If you take our manager I can assure you we won't roll over and let you help yourselves, we will do what it takes to keep our squad together.
What wingers do you have anyway that are good enough at the minute. That Brady is on loan but doesnt look ready for first team football yet
He's not far off, just needs experience like I say. He has all the physical and technical attributes im abundance, he just needs to improve his decision making, which to be fair, is starting to improve. Stewart is absolutely fantastic, fast as a cheetah, bags of skill, tends to set up other players aswell rather than going for glory. Constantly unsettling opposition defences and mixes it up alot whether he's going to bolt down the wing or cut inside, you never know what he's going to do. Stewart on one wing with Brady on the other would be very dangerous, and something my mouth has been watering about since we got Brady. If you spoil my dream I will personally come and bulldozer the crisp stadium myself
Like Maynard jumped at the chance ? .. Now it seems NP is going to be your new manager will you be telling us all how your going to walk the league / buy the league and can't fail just like when sven took over ? No sour grapes from me Nigel Pearson is a great manager and one of my fav Hull City manager ever..Hull City fans won't slag him off like your fans did when he was got rid of by LcFc . Will always like NP unless we are playing LcFc. ... Dream game would be HcFc v LcFc in the play off final with HcFc winning to show NP he should have stayed at HcFc...good luck Nigel youl always get a huge cheer from me when our teams meet....until the game kicks off ......
I bet you lot dont cheer Nigel when he goes back When he came here last season he got a clap at the end of the game when he came over to the fans
Stewart looks decent but hasnt he had a long term injury First he will have to prove he can still play at the same level he was before his injury
Redknapp and Daglish, good examples so yes it is possible for a former manager to return and succeed which was my concern I guess, and if can bring in some decent wingers and .some unity then better still. And Hull fans, I have a great amount of respect for you and your team as you are genuine fans unlike glory hunters who follow Liverfool etc so I hope everything is sorted out that's best for both teams, IF NP does decide to return.
Lets flip the coin the other way think of a time a manager has gone back and it has ended in disaster
Howard Kendal was before my time I am sure Nigel would of thought this through before deciding he wants to come back he isnt stupid O'Neill didnt want to come back but it looks like Nigel does
Howard Kendal before your time Proud, you young ankle bitter you! Anyway you're right, Pearson isn't stupid and only time will tell I guess, who would care if we were promoted anyway
