I was just going to post this!

So I’ll just add what I was initially going to write:

According to my Facebook, it’s a year ago since Acun took over as Hull City owner, started with an absolute stormer, beating Blackburn 2-0, then going to Bournemouth & getting a 1-0 victory, it looked like the shackles had been thrown off McCann & co, but then, something happened that the media & those who didn’t know Acun was planning on bringing in his own man, didn’t expect.
McCann & his team were gone & in came little known Shota Arveladze, other than scoring goals for Rangers, if you’re a footie nerd.
He started off well, 2-0 v Swansea, waving at the fans, smiling, interacting. Finally after years of downward spiral with the Allams, we finally had football people in charge, or at least it looked like that.
Roll on 8 months, a seemingly great summer transfer window, that went out of the window, along with the coach, later. We saw Dawson take temporary charge, he did ok, steadied the ship, before our current boss, Liam Rosenior returned as manager, to date, shoring up the defence reasonably well, playing nice, if not slightly, repetitive ticki-tacki football. One things for sure, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea or coffee.

So, in the year, what do people think Acun’s done right & done wrong?

For me, I think he wanted to bring in his own guy, however, looking back now, the timing was well off, even at the time, I justified it by saying, he wanted his own guy & had already sorted that out back in October 2021, when it looked like the takeover was happening.
I think, in retrospect, Shota should have been brought in as someone to work with the management, but that might have felt like McCann was being undermined, & he probably would have walked.
I think it’s fair to say, Shota was a nice guy, but he was going to fail with his lack of knowledge of the English league, & so it proved. Then there was the summer transfer window, seemed great, until it turned out, they were injured, or actually maybe not as good as they were made out to be.
Who knows on that one, it seems Shota couldn’t manage, but Rosie appears to be able to, so far!
Overall, Acun’s, done things his way, hopefully, he’s realised, it’s not football manager, & he has to let football people be in control.
His PR is, again hit & miss, timing when it came to McCann leaving, seemed terrible, but he seems to have got the fans back with offers at home & away travel. Although, IMO, it’s lead to some thinking we’re better than we are, I really do hate the boo boys.

    Blimey, that's flown by.
    Bit like Acun himself!

    - McCann should have been given until the end of the season, at least. (Easier with hindsight given our results were pretty poor during the due diligence phase).
    - Our recruitment in the summer window was slap dash. We should have tried to keep hold of the majority of the starting 11 (i.e. Honeyman and Smallwood), if only for another 6 months, and looked to strengthen/add competition for places. I'm pretty sure our starting 11 right now would have looked the same regardless, but it would have provided stability in the initial few months of the new season.
    - Daws did well when called upon. Glad he managed to find a role at the club under Rosie too.

A club transformed and only heading in one direction.

Glad we weren't careful what we wished for.
