Yes but I don't pick the animals I eat based on their intelligence or lack there of. I'm honest enough to admit the range of animals I'm comfortable eating is almost entirely cultural. My only point earlier was that I personally don't see a conflict in eating meat and having a pet dog (which also eats meat), or for that matter having an aquarium and eating fish.
It's different, that doesn't have to mean worse though. Once it's soaked up in a roast spud it is hard to taste a difference.
