    Err
I know it’s only a jokey picture, but I’ll give an answer a go.
Firstly they don’t ‘always’. (I just had some broccoli. I wanted it to taste like broccoli. It did, so that was a result)
You know that though so we’ll ignore that.
Sometimes, some vegans, do try and make vegetables taste like meat. When they do the reason is they like the taste of meat.
Many vegans are vegan because they feel, rightly or wrongly, it is more environmentally friendly.
Many because they feel it is a healthier diet.
Many because they feel it is kinder to animals.
None of the above (and I’d guess that is the majority of vegans) necessarily means they don’t like the taste of meat.
Also often they’re not actually trying to get the taste of meat either. They’re trying to get the texture. The taste of a chicken curry for example is easy to reproduce with veg because chicken doesn’t really taste of much, compared to the spices, but it’s the texture that people like.
I personally quite like things like seitan which give protein and a ‘chewy’ texture, not unlike meat.
I will say though, having said all that, that I personally don’t see why you’d need it shaped like meat though. I suppose that’s just done to appeal to the first timers, or people who eat meat but are buying something for vegan visitors and want the meals to look similar. Presumably it sells better otherwise shops wouldn’t do it.

    Anyway…that was my boring answer!

I just had a 'vegan friendly' mince pie.

Not sure it's much different to a non-friendly mince pie, but it was dry and chewy, so I'm going non-friendly next time.

    Aye
Vegan pastry can be a bit short
To be fair it’s only the pastry that would be any different really (assuming it was fruit rather than a pie made of mince!)

Well it is absolutely crazy then - that cannot be in compliance with any safety regulations. One sudden gust of wind, one stumble, and all five could be gone via a dominoes effect not to mention anyone below on the pavement. Maybe they are clandestinely harnassed to the interior ladder???

Had xmas lunch with veggy and meat folk, I made some vegan gravy. Couldn't really taste much difference between it and meat gravy. I've got about a gallon stashed in the freezer now. <ok>

As you don’t add all the meat juices then it’s not going to be as good is it
