Getting to the byline is obviously useful but it doesn't have to be dictated by which foot is strongest. Grosicki used to get to the byline a lot while playing on the left as a right-footer. We just lack players who can take a man on so it's only ever really the full backs on the overlap who get to the byline.
Some serious interest coming In for Oscar unfortunately.... We are sticking to a very high asking price though!
Id be holding out for 20-25m, 2.5 years (?) of his contract left, good age and some of the prem teams desperate. Would need some serious money to replace him.
Should be saying he's not for sale full stop at the moment. Far too valuable to us and no amount of money would guarantee a decent replacement in January
Forest give us that Johnson lad who was scoring for fun last season in return and I might think about it. Don't know enough about the other two to know if there's anyone there I'd want in return
I wonder how much he's bought into the project or how much his head might turn... For me, he keeps picking up what are crucial goals with very little service so replacing him without further strengthening other areas as well would be a bad move for us. Would give us a lot of work to do even if we bring in big money for him. But then with a smaller squad we could bring in proven quality in a few key areas and potentially give ourselves a real fighting chance of a late push this season or be in a great position for next season...
Get this season out of the way first before building for next. We know from painful recent memory what can happen when you sell your best player(s) in January. And we were a lot further away from the relegation zone then as well
£20m for a player we got for free 6 months ago would be excellent business. I’d like him to stay, but think he is replaceable
What I think is away from home, the way we set up works as teams come onto us. At home, whereby teams sit in and defend, we certainly needed to play the likes of Tufan and Sinik when he was here, and Tetteh when he is fit. Being pragmatic away from home and having the energy from my likes of Slater/Docherty/Longman has been working for the first 60 minutes, then bringing on Tufan and the like later on when teams tire seems to be effective.
The transfer fee may have been free, but the signing on fee, bonuses, and wage are pretty substantial. Acun always said he would spend good money on a striker, he was true to his word. We also tried to sign Haji Wright but he went to Turkey instead and is now the 2nd highest goalscorer behind Enner Valencia in the Super Liq, he would do as a replacement.
We don't have a great record with strikers. It's rare we ever find one who turns out to be so prolific, so I don't believe he would be easily replacable
