I can’t fathom if it’s Klopp going stale, his players ageing, the wrong system or what. Their fall from grace is spectacular.
Same thing happened to him at Dortmund, relegation battle til near the end of the season and they managed to survive by the skin of their bollocks. He resigned at the end of the season. I think he does have a loyalty to his players, tbf to him, bit like Seabass replied to me on the Fulham game thread that why should we be chatting about phasing out players? Because of Liverpool right now, for example. If you want to be the best in the country, which I want NUFC to be, you need to constantly be assessing and improving on what you have to compete, these players know how it works and so should the managers. When you aren't up to it anymore, you find the new youngster who is, the older lads get back to teach up those youngsters. It's the circle of life. Liverpools squad is getting old and they arent prepared to replace them.
All Klopp does is moan about everything apart from his team and tactics, guy needs to focus on what's wrong with his club not blame everyone else Edit: it's glorious to watch though
Where to begin their Accents, perms, entitlement, always the victims, Souness, Dalgliesh, Cathedrals, River Mersey, Ferry's, and Covid19 was quite clearly all their fault.
I think he's making the same mistake that Wenger made towards the end of his reign at Arsenal. Focused so much on everyone else and couldn't see what was right in front of him to fix
Basically, the old guard is on the way out and they haven't replaced them - Milner, Henderson, Firminio blah blah....plus they clearly underrated what a huge job Mane did for them.
Yep, a lot of their success and reliance was on TAA and Robertson and that is not working the same way it used to for whatever reason. VVD is not the force he once was, Hendo the same. They shouldn't have let Mane go in my opinion but that's just a fraction of it for me. They are missing Diaz, they may see a different Nunez when he's back but I just can't quite put my finger on it. I think it's a combination of things which are all contributing in a negative way to where they are.....the polar opposite to what is happening at the Toon almost. Beautiful to watch tho !
They also made the mistake of thinking their youth system was able to generate the talent required to feed the first team. Remember when Curtis Jones, Elliott, Woodburn, Brewster, Wilson were all getting games at 16/17 yrs and Klopp was spunking at the potential, what they didn’t realise was these guys weren’t good enough but if you stick one or two of them in to a team in their prime like Liverpool were then of course you get the impression that they can make the step up. How many of Liverpools “famed” academy has made the step up in recent years, TAA probably and even he’s had his problems with form.
Klopp is an excellent manager but such a half-truth whinger: According to the EPL injury table: Chelsea 10 Forest 9 Villa 8 Leicester 8 Man Utd 8 Bournemouth 7 Liverpool 7 Leeds 7 We've been at 6-7 most of the season and it's only recently been getting better with the returns of ASM, Wilson and Isak finally fully fit. Jonjo, Kraft, Targett get forgotten about mostly.
