The 12.40 at Punchestown is interesting because the two at the head of the betting both have a massive absence to overcome. Favourite is Joe Donnelly's Tactical Move who hasn't been seen for 1158 days and his trainer Willie Mullins states: "Tactical Move is a lovely big horse by Stowaway. He’s a nine year old who has had a lot of training problems as you can see from his absence. He’s a horse I think a lot of, he covers a lot of ground, jumps well and if he can run well and finish in the first three, staying sound, that would be a good result."

The second-fav Lets Go Champ has an even longer absence to overcome. His P2P victory at Bartlemy was a whopping 1344 days ago - but he did have Full Back, Dunboyne and Captain Tom Cat in behind and is related to the ill-fated Our Conor on the dam side.

Thanks UC, will keep an eye out for it. I must say though we get very few Zinfandels over here in Berlin - not sure why....

    Interesting post, UC! <ok>

I love a good Rye Whisky, whereas Canadian Club is always a good and regular standby, one of the best is Heaven's Door Straight Rye Whisky 43% Full-Grain-Rye-Corn Whisky (1 x 0,7 l). Expensive, but a superb Rye, to be sipped slowly! :emoticon-0100-smile

You have to take him on I think - he is too short and Champion Bumper winners have a poor record in the Supreme. There are a couple of smart novices who have taken my eye but of course you never know what will run where. Marine Nationale was very impressive in the Royal Bond - but that race has historically been a poor trial for the Supreme with only Like A Butterfly winning both races. I notice Marine Nationale is not entered at the DRF and they are planning to go straight to Cheltenham with him. Two British runners I have been really impressed with are Nicky Henderson's mare Luccia (but I assume she will go to the mares novice hurdle) and Charlie Longsdon's Rare Edition - who won the same novice hurdle on Boxing Day as Altior a few years earlier.

I don't see Marine Nationale shorting between now and race day so I will take a look at the prices on the day before having a bet.

Rare edition isn't a definite runner. Trainer said it's more of an aintree horse and may skip Cheltenham <doh>

Not really a whisky man Swan although i do have a good collection unopened and some very sought after ones . An old friend of mine used to love the stuff and he used to buy the "bible" so i used to buy the top ones in there, and some that were good and being discontinued or limited .
I much prefer a good overproof rum (for medicinal purposes ). I must admit though the 1000 questions bourbon aged red had got great hints of whisky running through it .
