Need a couple of wingers who aren't afraid of being more direct. Longman tried his best today but he's just not up to that task. Smith was gash out wide today.
Couldnt agree more mate so frustrating. When he got one on one with the full back he looked so confident but every time he just went inside.... We could we of put the ball in the box loads more but chose to go backwards or just passed it central...
Longman just isn't that type of player. He's got a good shot on him from around the edge of the box as he showed several times last season, but he's not really found the space to do that much this season. Beating men isn't his game though, and never has been.
Good reason for that, he’s predominantly right footed playing on the left wing. Square pegs in round holes again. Easy for the opposition to work out.
Where do you think Longman would play best? I do think he has talent but I don’t know where he belongs on the pitch to impact the game consistently. Surely if we are going to progress as a team we need more unpredictable players on the wings who can cut in but also beat a man to deliver a cross?
Really we need at least 3 pacey wide players, and as of now we have none. If Ebiowei signs and Allahyar back that is 2 but I’d say you ideally want 3 like that. Then you can fill in beyond that with Pelkas, Tetteh, Longman etc. Just please not Smith, Slater and Doc
I guess with those two it worked because they scored enough. Longman sadly hasn’t got that statistic to point to, so it is puzzling why we persist with it.
i don’t think it’s inverted wingers that are the problem, it’s that longman isn’t good enough for where we want to be.
I think it'd be nigh on catastrophic if Oscar were to go this window, we need his goals and he'll probably be worth a lot more in the summer.
paying 10m? for a keeper? as a team in the championship in january at least try and make it realistic ffs
Yep I agree. Not an exaggeration to say that it may well result in a 2020 style post Bowen capitulation
