Lovely bloke met him at the reception after he’d won the FA cup when Chelsea beat Villa even have a photo of me with him and the cup
Always came across as a decent type of bloke.. Amazing to think he was brought up in a 60 room castle as his dad was a very wealthy self made man. Far as I know he is the only man to win both winners and runners up medals in all 3 European Club competitions.
ted "king size" taylor, merseybeat musician, 83. his band king size taylor and the dominoes shared bills with the beatles and often had cilla black singing with them. https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/legendary-southport-musician-ted-kingsize-25889137
it appears we kind og have king size taylor to thank for the beatles at the star club recordings (which the beatles didn't want releasing)...
Sad news regarding Gianluca Vialli. Always seemed like a decent bloke who liked living in London. RIP.
I remember King Size in an interview years ago saying Lennon gave the impression he was a tough guy rampaging round Liverpool before adding “He wouldn’t have lasted two minutes…” Something also said by the lead singer of The Big Three saying he wouldn’t have said boo to him either. Interesting if you read right through this and the bit about what they did later how many names who became well known in music and other areas drifted in and out of bands in those days, https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingsize_Taylor_and_the_Dominoes
Just got off a plane and heard about vialli absolutely gutted what a lovely man he was and not to shabby a footballer. His smile was infectious as was his commentary whenever I watched him on telly. It seemed everyone love him, cancer is such a bastard, taken far too many good people, too early. RIP sir, you’ve done your bit now rest easy…
Was talking about rugby with my grandson not long ago and he was on about how he had side stepped someone. I told him you will never sidestep like David Duckham. He hadn’t heard of him so I showed him a clip. (Told him it reminded me of myself when I wasn’t being like Barry John. Glad there weren’t video cameras about when I was young) As someone said elsewhere, if he had been Welsh he would have been idolised. The only English player in the memorable Barbarians team which beat theAll Blacks. An all time great.
Jeff Beck. It's really difficult to say who is the greatest, and I'm no expert, but Jeff would definitely be in my top five. His touch was of a Wizard.
