Everything but the girls Tracy Thorn, in WHSmiths. She was really happy to talk about their album Eden which I'd been playing a lot at the time. A very cool girl, with a lovely voice.

Ian Ashbee, I didn't bother him as everybody was. I think it must be a pain being so famous.

Did anyone bump into Daniel Craig or his missus, when they took a place in Cherry Burton? Apparently he'd buy rounds in a pub in Beverly. Tbf I'd have rather have met, Rachel :emoticon-0152-heart

Abbie Titmus in the fruit and veg section at Tesco St Stephens. I kid you not. The area soon filled up with none fruit eating males.

I remember thinking that Dave Stewart was going to be the next George Best when he first started playing for us but unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out like that.

He was very skilful and quick but his career seemed to go backwards, I think very early in his career he had been at City and Chelsea and I don’t think he was that old when at Scunthorpe probably 24/25 then he drifted into non league. Nice lad.

I once walked past a car parked outside of Ferens Art gallery. Cliff Richard was sat in a passenger seat.
Mark Bright on an escalator in T5 in Heathrow. Lovely bum.
Phil Lynott walked past me in Hull College. Looking mean and moody. Great gig.
Whispering Bob Harris, ironically, perhaps, in the same place, different time.
Stuart Pearson once came to our house when he brought my sister home, sounded like a bit of a lad, allegedly.
An ex work colleague, knew both Dawn French and Lenny Henry...Liked Dawn a lot, disliked Henry because he was always complaining about something or other.
The bloke who played Jack and Vera's son on Corrie, once walked past me on George Street.
I worked with a guy whose uncle was Tony Warren, the bloke who created Corrie.
Robert DeNiro on a street in Tribeca, NYC.

Loads of other spurious connections, most forgotten.

I've met (often) Alfie Fieldsend, and anyone he hasn't met isn't worth meeting, FACT. :emoticon-0100-smile

I shook hands with Pope Benedict XVI a couple of months after he became Pope.

These pale in comparison, but I've sat next to the following on airplanes:
Bobby Knight (legendary college basketball coach)
Former US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson
Singer and actress Mandy Moore. Funny story about this one. I had gotten an upgrade to first class in a window seat. I noticed an entourage of teeny boppers board the plane, and was surprised when one of them plopped down in the seat next to me. I politely introduced myself. I'd never heard of her so it meant nothing to me when she told me her name. Then some adult dude came up and asked for her autograph, and then several more at the gate when we deplaned. It was then I googled her name and discovered she'd achieved some fame.

I've met all sorts of American baseball, football, and basketball players at sundry games, events, etc., but one stands out. I used to attend the same church as Roger Staubach, former QB for the Dallas Cowboys. One Saturday afternoon my friends and I were playing a pickup game of touch football on the soccer field next to the church. Roger shows up for a wedding. We spotted him in the parking lot and yelled at him to come throw us a pass or two. He came walking towards us, at least until his wife barked something at him, whence he gave us a sheepish wave and turned back to go inside. We met him later after the wedding was over.

I have talked with Richard Branson on a plane and Michael Portillo on a train.
Had a pint with Robbie Coltrane in a pub in London and been in a hotel lift with Sophie Raworth.
Steve Morrow, who scored the winner in the 1993 League Cup Final and then fell off Tony Adams shoulders so couldn’t collect his medal, lived in the same street as me when he came back from playing/managing in the US.
Had a chat recently with Deano whilst we waited for our wives in a shop in York.
