Plum, I am not against him at all - I really hope it works out for him. A bit of a tongue-in-cheek by me, I admit. Here is hoping for a great future for him in Black & Amber.
I’ve only just found out he was on the pitch. Must have missed him coming on. Where did he play, left wing?
Thought he had touches (as he's been out a long time) that he looks like he has a touch of class above what we've got (Smith) though with Tetteh and Oscar not sure how or where he fits?
Tetteh absolutely brilliant off the bench, we've missed him a lot. The space and time he gives the forwards with his movement and passing is great, and was definitely the brightest of the substitutions. Connolly I thought looked a bit overwhelmed with the pace and physicality so might take a couple of games to get up and running. On the whole quite happy with the performance despite not getting the win, I think the game was reasonably matched.
I didn't scan mine, in fact it never came out of my pocket. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I think we will likely see him more on the wing. Though I suspect he will move ahead of Smith in the pecking order for options up front, once he is match fit.
Thought we did alright today but just didn't have enough quality in attack from the start to threaten them. With Smith there was just no presence up front until the subs came on. Vale was obviously poor too, to the point that team mates were visibly annoyed at him at times for the cheap offsides and failing to track his man. If he's on 25k I can't see why we're not sending him back asap. Tetteh looked great, very promising, and I thought Connelly looked decent too. Very energetic. I see people are jumping on an opportunity to blame Coyle and write him off again. Played well at both ends as usual but fails to successfully bring down a ball from the sky with one of the fastest players in football bearing down on him and it means he's League 1 again. Par for the course. People around me were moaning at Elder all game too, ignoring that he won tackles and successfully defended crosses at the back post all game. The queue thing really needs sorting out. It's obviously the one off tickets that don't work, since it's not such an issue for league games. A big part of the problem is that the barcode scanners barely have any vertical space to put a ticket under them, so you have to present your ticket really close to the scanner, which makes it easy to misalign. People understandably make the QR code on their phone as big as possible but that's actually counterproductive because the whole thing then doesn't fit in the scanner's line of sight. And if you put your phone under the scanner vertically as you logically would, the barcode probably won't be under the scanner; it fits better if you present it sideways, but people won't know that unless they can see the red line from the scanner, which is difficult in daylight. I think the whole unit is designed for scanning the barcode on membership cards and maybe club printed tickets. A4 tickets and mobile tickets just don't fit very well.
Yeah struggling to believe there's much truth in the notion we're paying Vale 25k a week if we didn't send him back the first chance we got, and further actually played him against Fulham which no doubt triggers appearance payment as well. We may well be paying him more than we should and more than other loanees like Simons and Salah, but surely no where near 25k or else we'd have sent him packing on Jan 1st.
That's for the link, worked fine. I usually watch on ifollow but the cup games are not included in their package.
Overall I thought it was a good performance, I agree with Liam he said their style is similar to his way of playing, and you can see similarities to hope Marco plays and coaches. We kept them down to very few chances and created 2 or 3 good possibilities ourselves, the first of which Vale should have scored. Nevertheless, nothing to be negative about, they are a good side and we competed with them for large parts of the game. Woods and Coyle I thought had good games as did Mcloughlin, Simon's looks handy and Elder didn't have a bad game either. What pleased me the most was the fact that Liam made 8 changes, and the boys coming in slotted into the way of playing from the start. Clearly, Liam has got everyone singing from the same hymn sheet, as often when you make wholesale changes it just doesn't work. Tetteh made a real difference when he and Oscar came on, he certainly has been a miss, let's hope he gets u to speed quickly. Callum Jones I thought looked good when he came on, even though it was for a short time. Tufan is real class, but drifts in and out of games, it will be interesting to see if he stays or goes. A win against Udderfield and a positive result at home will be a big step forward for the confidence.
Yes Simons surprised me with how well he played. That one-two pass, good first touch and move that ended in the cross for Smith was a very promising move and showed his quality.
He also surprised me with his pace, he chased down Dan James twice and stopped him getting crosses in.
I suspect he fits in last 15 off the bench, but he is off the pace, so dont see how that will work. Early days but just my thought after seeing him yesterday.
I thought it short sighted not to play La Tula in net, with Baxter out of the picture, should Ingram get injured, we have a goalie not match/team confident, don’t understand that yesterday, missed opportunity. Positives from the match for me, Tetteh back, we went toe to toe with Fulham, yes we lost, but not too shabby. All ifs & buts, would have been different game had we taken early chances. Don’t see how Ingram can be blamed for last goal, if the goalie goes up for last min corner, the corner kick has to be put in the mix, has to beat first man. Onwards & upwards in the league, UTT.
Re the problems with scanning and fans missing up to half an hour of the game because of it, when the crowd was only 14,000. Imagine the delays if you simply had to hand a fiver or a tenner over? We'd be there all day.
