I'm not sure it's a binary as 'fighting for the manager' or not. It's more fighting for the club and their careers, which they are all doing, no doubt (and were all doing with Ralph too). Whether or not they believe NJ is the right manager, or understand or believe in his methods is a far harder thing to discern. It's very, very, very, very, very unusual for any player just to outright stop trying (and would be the ultimate show of unprofessionalism).

Shane Long and Adam Armstrong score on the same day?

I’m gonna be on the look out for a vortex opening up to another dimension.

Puts a little more excitement on the signing of Orsic, as we had two players playing in that position. Orsic is a massive improvement on both if Twitter is to be believed.

You do know this is a trap. Just as we resign ourselves to loss and start planning for the Championship next season , Saints throw in an away win and we believe we have turned a corner. It’s the Cup and it’s a trap!

Bear in mind some of our losses have been driven by howlers from Bazunu and Lyanco, so if they somehow shouldn't count towards NJ getting credit for a win, nor should they count against him losing a match. Without us making howlers, we'd actually have points on the board in the PL since his tenure.

I see the point, but you do have to consider the broader picture that our only open play goal against PL opposition in 4 games came from an opposition error,

Don’t all goals involve opposition error to some extent

In a way. But today were total gifts.

We do need to create a lot more and move the ball more quickly. The good thing is we have a base to build on.

If we play with the intensity of the second half, we have a small chance of winning a PL game

That may be, but we were never big scorers of late, even under Ralph, and by most of our admission, our strikers can't hit barn doors and it's the #1 position we need to fill. If one comes in, and we score a goal from open play each game, plus the set piece we're getting atm, who knows what brave new world we might start to see. I think you have to go back to that Chelsea game in August to find a match where we scored more than a goal (could be wrong, but that's my recollection). So most of this season under Ralph we aren't scoring more than a goal, even against opposition like Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL, so the fact that in our last few matches the goals have come from set plays is not a surprise. If we only score 0 or 1 goal per game, and our top scorer is the best set piece taker in the league, odds are on most of our goals being from set plays. In theory, NJ may have overseen as many two goal wins as Ralph now (again, might be wrong)!

Point is, seems churlish to hit him when we win with the other side of the same stick we're all beating him for when we lose.

Give a moment's thoughts to your unconscious thought processes and biases.

We make mistakes: they forced us into making them by better play, we're dire and will never win again.

Opposition makes mistakes: we were just lucky, we're dire and we'll never win again.

And I categorically deny that they were luck. The first goal was a sublime inswinging free kick exactly in the right spot to force their keeper to stick or twist. You've seen dozens of them go a foot past the post. This one didn't. The second goal was the result of a dogged sprint and a good, solid tackle.

    Vin

Quite, like what to do with the rest of the afternoon! Management was happy here as instead of juggling knives whilst they're playing I successfully put up a roller blind. So brownie points there but the real cherry on the cake came after the final fixing I checked this board to see if ET was being played and I read that we had won!!
