If we’re going to continue lumping it up over the midfield, maybe we can play Keane up front…. (I’m actually all for the Keane signing, in a Ben Mee/Tarkowski kind of way).
Besiktas had one hell of a collection of ex-PL mediocrities in attack. Alli, Redmond, former Leicester player Rachid Ghezzal, Spurs flop Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Cenk Tosun. The Turkish league has been transforming into the MLS, where you look at the roster for any top half team and find five guys you just assumed had retired.
Jones confirmed in the presser that we are looking for "quality over quantity" and that they are "targeting 3 or 4 signings"
Football365 have an article on Akpom written by one of their writers who I'm pretty sure is a Boro fan. He says he wouldn't come here because we are a basket case. More interesting is that he suggest he has got better since playing in a deeper role. Does that mean he is a replacement for Adams? Or that Adams will play further forward if he joins? https://www.football365.com/news/fe...whats-so-great-about-chuba-akpom-arsenal-boro
Copium from a boro fan I reckon. He wouldn’t turn down PL football & wages. If we want him he will come I reckon. He’s at the age where he needs to secure his pay cheque. Just depends if he’s good enough, or if this is just a purple patch
Absolutely agree on the copium part. We know it all to well from when we had players taken by clubs within the same division Any move to a relegation threatened club will likely have release clauses anyway. And he still would likely have a net pay increase even if a relegation pay drop is factored in
For someone like Akpom it would seem like a no brainer. When we go down we will be one of the favourites to go up. Boro are in the playoffs atm but it’s very tight and no guarantees they will go up, probably similar odds to us surviving.
