    ... fabulous footballer ... but even more tragic to have died so young...

    Was shocked to hear this this morning, probably more so than some of the other recent deaths. He came to Chelsea at the time (1996) of a new era in football, one where it was great to see some decent European players signing up for English clubs, Cantona beforehand at Man Utd (92-97), not forgetting Zola (1996) the same age as Eric for Chelsea both who were only a couple of years younger than Vialli - certainly been a privilage to see these greats, even if it was only via a tv screen in my lifetime.
