One thing I'd say there is that if they took decisive action on Ralph when you wanted it, we'd have had Nathan Jones for half a season by now, and certainly wouldn't have 12 points to our name.
If we hired Jones at the start of the season he would have been gone before the World Cup. SR could have got a more suitable fire fighter in and we would have had more time. We’re now in a position where it’s probably too late.
I honestly don’t think it is. There’s some terrible dogshit in the league this season. Someone who can motivate and inspire can jolt this squad back up, particularly if we bring a couple of new players in.
For this to happen we need SR to act quickly and decisively. Given how long they persevered with Ralph I don’t think they will do that. Unless the players actually refuse to turn up i don’t see them doing anything quickly.
Not too late - but requires some definite humble pie-eating from SR. And if we are planning to buy players, I suspect they are doing this to give NJ a fighting chance, so imagine they're probably not planning on getting rid of him any time soon.
We're going to have to offer a hell of a survival bonus and pay higher wages to any player that we want to sign now. We look doomed. Any potential signing who watched that last night will have been put well off.
I have been a Saints fan for 45+ years. I wouldn't sign for us. ***I am only slightly better than Ali Dia though, so that may be a blessing.
Relegation release clauses will be in most contracts I imagine. We are desperate and have no power, agents will of course be well aware of that.
Unless the new signings are a centre back who can ping a very accurate 60 yard ball or a 6ft 5 striker I don’t see what difference they can make
If we go for a centre-back over a physical midfielder to compete with Lavia, then I will be very confused but not at all surprised by SR and their squad priorities.
Given the rumours about a CB were about before ABKs injury it's probably irrelevant to this reasoning, but if ABK is out for any length of time then we probably do need CB cover, particularly if Jones is staying and continuing to play 3 CBs. Not instead of a DM though, but tbf, that we are looking at CBs hopefully is not an indicator that we are not also after a DM.
