Remember the days under Ralph where we were told we already knew our next possible manager and that they would be picked to carry on playing "the southampton way". The SFC playbook" would have all teams playing the same style of play so youngsters could transition easily into the first team. Well the board have completely ****ed that. We now have no style of play, no identity and no chance of staying in the league unless by some miracle we sign 4 top players and Jones suddenly implements some sort of identity... not happening is it?
Jones has equalled De Boer’s record at palace of losing his first 4 games in the premier league. De Boer was sacked the next day
We need to suck it up and get shot of Jones before a dire situation becomes relegation certainty. I think even he's astonished he got the gig.
To be fair to Jones, if we approached him to take the job he must assume we like what he’s done at Luton and should stick to it. I don’t like having him as our manager, but I don’t blame him for being in this position or even going about it the way he dies. This one’s on SR, and it’s not too late to fix it if they take a hit on their pride and act swiftly I was firmly on the Ralph In or Ralph Out fence. But here I’m as Jones Out as I was with Pellegrino
That'll be the name of the aftershave he brings out Fraudenschade, for the man who even at his worst, is still better than his replacement
I usually try to avoid posting straight after a bad game in order to drop the emotion out of of it all, but ****ing hell that was awful. Just ****ing awful. There really isn't much more to say. NJ seems like a really nice bloke who was offered the job of coaching a premier League team - why wouldn't he take it? It's just that they won't remain a premier League team under his stewardship. Need to limit the damage but **** knows how.
I read a worrying bit in The Athletic, reflecting on SR's one year anniversary, where they point out that SR are committed to their modus operandi, irrespective of the turbulence they face; and that were aware that NJ's appointment would either be used as a stick to beat them with or (if it worked ) "a genius move". They apparently like going with managers who have failed in the past, due to their ability to learn from mistakes and improve as a coach.
That's like the string quartet still playing on the titanic as it sank. Plucky, but still sliding downhill anyway
It was bad scouting by Rasmus. If he looked at the way Jones’ team played, then looked at our squad, any football man would have known it would never work. Jones was coming into a difficult position, without the tools or the nouse of being able to change it. Do the decent think Rasmus and admit you have made a major cocktail up. But sadly I won’t be holding my breathe
I don't even know where to begin with that. Absolute fuxking dogshite. To not even get a shot on target, at home, is ****ing criminal.
On the plus side at least we've got two nice cup tie distractions now and can then try and bounce back in our next league game at Goodis-err oh hang on, never mind.
I like the Italian managerial sackings model, where they can get put on gardening leave for the remainder of their contract, and can be recalled during that period.
Great logic. Nothing to do with ability, if you’ve done badly before then you’re less likely to **** up again.
