Reports elsewhere that (Aston) Villa have been quoted £30 by (Real) Villa. Various sites cite him either as an attacking mid or a centre forward, his goals record makes him look like a DF.
Tella just reflecting on the year or on his way back? Feel a bit sorry for him if we do bring him back but makes sense from our POV
What we can't do is negotiate over a few million quid. If Lorient set a reasonable asking price just meet it. If it's unreasonable go elsewhere.
Reckon we could get Iheanacho from Leicester? He never plays for them so may want first team football. They might not want to help us as they aren't 100% out of the relegation battle and I doubt he would want to risk relegation either so it would likely be a loan-with-buy-option deal. Worth asking the question.
Whilst I understand the chat around new striker(s), we could have Haaland up front and still struggle to score because it's our fragile, unadventurous and pedestrian midfield that currently cost us in both directions. We have nobody willing or able to slot a runner in up front and nobody with the presence and awareness to cover our defence. Lavia's injuries may well be a massive contributing factor here but boy oh boy is there a massive Romeu shaped hole in our squad. I think I'd prioritise that ahead of a striker.
How about Adama Traore who is available from Wolves. Very direct and somewhat unpredictable but delivers a good cross.
I get where you're coming from. But for all our problems elsewhere on the pitch, even we have created enough chances to be far higher up the league. The chances that, in particular, Che and Ely have missed this season have been so costly. Even when through on goal against league one Lincoln, they each managed to mess it up on separate occasions. When you consider that Wolves and Everton are both direct rivals, the three points which they both took from us as a result of our failures in front of goal could yet be fatal for us.
Definitely seems that signing a few PL experienced players would be the way to go, given our current predicament. As well as Iheanacho there are a few players not getting the minutes they would like throughout the league who could do a good job for us, Elneny, Smith-Rowe and Fabio Carvalho, off the top of my head, would all be worth trying to get on loan. Whether they would want to come here though is another matter entirely!
I doubt Liverpool would be willing to let Carvalho go out on loan. And even if they were, presumably Fulham would be at that front of that queue. Chamberlain they might - and Phillips I'm sure they would - but I don't think Carvalho. Elanga might be available at Utd. As well as the likes of Jones and Tuanzebe. With only one PL loan slot available to us, we don't want to waste it.
I imagine he could get regular game time at clubs playing much better football than us, though definitely worth a punt. Oliver Skipp also struggling for game time and definitely what we could use. A midfield 3 of Lavia, Skipp/ Elneny + JWP would go along way to helping us control a game for the first time this season.
Reports on Merseyside say that Saints are looking at a deal for Everton 6th choice CB, Mason Holgate. Hasn’t played for over 2 months, since the 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth.
