From the Liverpool Echo.... Lampard said of Simms: “We have the ability to recall him and we are considering that. It will be my decision first and foremost. "[It would be] to give us possibly other options in an attacking sense. I think Ellis has done well there, he has scored goals. It was a loan to help his development to go to the Championship and he has done pretty well. "That is helpful to us that he has games in his locker this year, we will look at that strongly… There is a balance of what is best for Ellis and clearly what is best for us and to get him in a position to be ready to come in and score goals. "It is one question to be scoring in the Championship, another to be scoring goals in the Premier League as well. When we look at where we are at, and I am talking about options off the bench for us and options to start if someone shows himself. We have to look at everything in our hands and Ellis is our player.”
Everybody loses here. Simms doesn't look ready for the Premier League so he'll either not play or lose confidence trying in a struggling team in front of an impatient crowd. We lose a player who was growing into things and starting to gather goals, appearances and confidence. Everton lose as recalling Simms will possibly mean they don't look farther ( if they have the cash). Must have all that wrong then. I like Simms, he's improving, but he's not ready to keep Everton up. Or he might be saying, to us, ' buy him or lose him'.
Poor from Everton imo but their choice with their player. Can't see him making a dent in the premier just now but hope he proves me wrong and scores tons, seems a canny lad. All the best Ellis!
I don't agree with their assessment that he's ready for the Premier League but he's their player and it's their choice. He's done well for us this year, happy to have had him as part of the squad. With Everton and Man Utd both happy with how we've looked after their young players, here's hoping some more clubs look at us to be that option for players on the brink of being Premier League ready.
He's poor and it forces our hand to dip into the market in jan, lots of better options than Ellis imo.
He's not as good as Stewart but he's not poor. His goals to minutes ratio this season is better than Brereton Diaz, Gyokeres, Estupinan and Pukki amongst many others. Most clubs would be thrilled with that from a part time striker.
Putting a different spin on this. Everton could end up with a player that isn't happy and wants to be away. If Simms doesn't get more than the odd cameo chasing a game or not even making the match day squad then surely he's going to be annoyed and consider his future? He looked happy here, has seen the faith put in him and other young players. Could be he would want to be back here?
That's going to be constant and louder all of January. We also have the detailed pulling apart of any striker linked and being deemed as ****e, not good enough, unambitious, useless etc
Shame as he's scored some important goals this season. However we may (should) end up with 1 or 2 better strikers. Everton can still **** off though.
