I dont think anybody has criticised playing the ball from the back what has been criticised is playing the ball around our own penalty area until our opponents take the ball off us
Only minor concern about last night was Sayyadmanesh's tendency to the odd rash tackle. He was guilty of it before his injury layoff and he was at it again last night. Getting stuck in is one thing but he doesn't need to be picking up yellow cards in the first 20 minutes.
Agreed. The difference last night was due to Birmingham not pressing high up the pitch and only doing it halfheartedly when they did press. This meant a lot more quality possession for Seri. Added to that Doc's energy and Allahyar's pace improved our press which pinned them back. We also did noticeably take less riss at the back, lumping it long when we might have passed in previous games. Trouble is we lost the ball pretty much every time we heaved it upfield, so I think we still have a way to go to find the right balance.
We have rarely lost the ball in our own penalty area when playing out from the back. We have lost two goals when our goalkeeper passed the ball to the wrong side of a player who was closely marked. There are plenty of people criticising playing out from the back. We were getting cheers from people in the East Stand when we hit it aimlessly upfield against Blackpool.
It’s inviting pressure on unnecessarily Its hardly groundbreaking from rosenior is it we’ve all seen Man City doing it for years Brum can’t do a high press with Deeney up top Which helped us to pass it more safely Blackpoool we were passing it and it was dangerous But the players were under orders to do that That’s been modified And we don’t have to just launch it Ingram did a few long passes to longman and Allahyar And if we don’t win the first ball then we should try to win the second ball He’s learned he’s adapted But blaming Ingram for Blackpool was poor the challenge for him now is to provide a better supply to our centre forward Who’s going to smash them in when he does
So basically when we win it's because Rosenior adapted his tactics as advised by people on here. And presumably when we next fail to win again it'll be because he's reverted to his previous tactics.
Anyone got a link to the highlights? I was out for a family meal, sounds like I missed a great performance. Gutted
