Quote from Michael Brown on bbc tonight… now not sure how itk he is about lfc transfers, strange quote to make. The midfielder they've targeted might not be available in this window for the right money and as the right fit. They understand what's happening. I'm sure Bellingham in the summer is their number one target, and I'm told they believed they almost had him - but if the paperwork isn't tied up, they're at risk of losing him
I would imagine this kind of thing to be correct as it supports my pessimistic narrative I just cannot see us landing Bellingham with all this hype around him My sliver of hope is we got VVD but even he I am not certain there was this much hype so I think we will be looking for the next Bellingham not Bellingham imho
More recent than VVD, Darwin. Ok, he might not be Bellingham, but he was wanted by same big clubs and came to us.
Ah yes cheers I hadn’t seen that was wondering if there was anymore to it Some specifics rather than him just posting an article that simply read No midfielder for Liverpool tried to find a tweet or something but couldn’t sorry for asking a question
Thought Enzo had signed at Chelsea ? Jude defo ain’t coming Last few days the narrative has defo changed imho That said I never thought he was coming. but it defo reading like Real Madrid to me But we shall see As stated above - it’s all bollox till Dribs posts it thus lol
Supposedly they're all in agreement but not too late to beat them.. nothing signed yet. Although, in all honesty, he's probably not good enough for us anyway... Bit of an overrated light-weight.
there's no need to dis a very very good player cos they are joining someone else or are too expensive if Liverpool are being faithful to a model that's won every single available trophy bar the europa league over the past 6 years then Cody gakpo is the perfect example of this system in action, not Enzo Fernández. one costs us 37mil and represents value on resealable asset irrespective of performance. BTW same goes for nunez once the rival angst does down and he starts scoring 65 rising to 80 again still represents value in resale. paying 115mil for Enzo Fernández at the height of his exposure is not our model. he's had a heat World Cup and is playing for benfica in Europe and Portugal but only clubs who do not care about ffp as they are working around it will be able to shovel out cash like Chelsea are if you lot want Bellingham REALLY then you have to believe in his 60mil get out clause and not 120mil type fees that our club cannot really afford. our net spend last summer was approx 15mil. this gakpo transfer brings the year to 50mil net. coincidentally we spent just about exactly the same in 21/22 on diaz and konate net. we spend slightly more in 20/21 (about 55mil) but that was balanced by a positive net spend the year before. our club works very hard on finding value, up and down the squad we see this, players who have increased in value. the only exceptions are the players bought out of coutinho (vvd and alisson who were top priced at the time to bring us up a level)
I take it the Caicedo (?) link was just paper talk Like I say never thought we were in for Bellingham Fernandez - no idea on him The Brighton link was discussed but whatever Paul Joyce has said seems to contradict all of the speculation I am assuming Joyce is someone you trust - journalist wise
Considering not a single journalist, including Joyce, got a sniff of the Gakpo transfer, we can stay positive that we will get a new midfielder or two ...... eventually
