When you are spending as much of your own money, as he has over the years on player purchases & salaries etc it’s human nature thar you’d want some level of control over what it’s spent on.
I would.
But as I'm sure you'll agree, on the playing side that level of control, and possibly interference on the playing side, has achieved very little for us as a club by way of any real success.

I don’t disagree, although we don’t really know what level of control he has, other than having to agree amounts spent, it is his money after all. I’m just pointing out it’s only human nature, I think it’s done with City’s best interests at heart, I’m not sure the same could be said if we had a “non City fan” owner.

For the time being at least, we'll never know what vision another owner might have.
Or not have as has been the case in many other clubs.

Unlike LJ I think a large majority of fans were behind the appointment of Nige and were well aware his task was, and is, difficult. However if we flirt with, or even drop into the bottom 3 questions will begin to be asked, combine that with some very questionable selections, and tactics of late and his very survival at the club is being brought into focus. Quite simply we have to start winning points, and quickly.

It would be so 'us' to get 3 points against the form book tonight !
Up the City !

In reaction to the OP - if Nige really IS ‘not bothered’ then he bloody well should be - results and performances have been poor and we are perilously close to the drop zone.
If losing a game and upsetting the fans doesn’t concern him then we need to replace him ASAP with someone who DOES care.
I really hope it was either an ‘off the cuff’ comment or the press twisting his words.

On a more positive note, both SAF and our own Alan Dicks came close to being sacked before turning things around - I really hope the same will be said for Nige. I’m not a fan of changing managers so I’d rather he turned things around than we gambled on a replacement (the same way I felt about LJ for the majority of his tenure)
If we slip into the drop zone then a change would be necessary but we are not there - yet.

Mr Lansdown bought his own player - David James. The Manager Steve Coppell didnt want him. Mr Lansdown veteod players Managers wanted and the club could afford - Steve Cotterill.

Mr Lansown as the owner has had total control over BCFC for over a decade. The board and boards overseeing BCFC are Mr Lansdown and his employees.

The FC is currently reducing the squad playing size and renegotiating contracts on significantly lower wages. This process started under a previous Manager and is fundamental to the FC not breaching financial fair play regulations, a situation created and controlled by Mr Lansdown. This process currently has saved circa ten million pounds but will continue next season, and very possibly seasons across the clubs operations. All of this is controlled by Mr Lansdown.

The previous cost cutting after spending too far past income with McInnes and O'driscoll Managing the team was directed by Mr Lansdown.

Ground redevelopmen - Mr Lansdown - Training facility - Mr Lansdown - Ownership of building bases assets e.g. Ashton Gate/training facility - Mr Lansdown.

The level of control and ownership Mr Lansdown has is total.

THAT IS THE FAILING FACTOR OF THE MAN... it must reflect back to the squad who think "if the manager is not bothered then what hope do we have" ... in life there is always a tipping point, it is the point where you actually take that course of action, all the info etc etc etc is weighed against the equilibrium and the final bit of info tips the scale! [ be it animal vegetable or mineral! ].
That comment was like a dagger to the heart for me ... added weight to my thoughts on the character / attitude of the man .

In mid table clubs like PNE and Hull are now pulling away especially the former
It looks like the relegation places could well be fought out between the current bottom 8 teams
Our next 3 league games could be very important come May
Birmingham H
Blackburn H
Huddersfield A
