Here's a stat City have won 4 games at home this season Our possesion was less than the opponents in 3 of those 4 games With an average of 41% But we battered blackpool cause we had 70% possession but had less chances created than them So it's fine
I thought the whole idea was to "flip flop" as you say - play how the opposition is allowing you to play If the players pass the ball around six yards from goal and the attackers press them there should be space behind but there's also a good chance that the defenders will panic and make a mistake like lower Championship level players it's down to can we score more goals to make up for the goals conceded through blunders?
Also 2nd home game in a row we stopped this slow passing due to chasing a goal and throwing attackers on And only scoring after throwing caution to the wind
Given we scored and hit the woodwork today and created far more than Sunderland then it could be argued the only reason we aren't doing that already is down to the forwards, not playing out from the back. Oscars goal today will have done him the world of good though.
Yes after they went down to 10 men and a goal up and we threw everything forward Until then we did **** all
Like cardiff We ****ed around till we were losing Then threw the system out the window and ended up scoring again When will the superior plan come to fruition?
Better than throwing caution to the wind from the start and being 2/3 down by HT. Roseniors biggest criticism seems to be taking inxreased risks defensively, but we've conceded far fewer under him so statistically that just doesn't bear out. It just makes the mistakes look more obvious - and hopefully we'll continue to iron those out.
We dont play out from the back - we play around at the back Conceding unnecessary goals when not being able to score many is not a good strategy
Previously we conceded goals through poor marking Any clubs watching how we play will make sure they are ready to get into our penalty area when we have a goal kick Right now I feel more relaxed when our opponents win a corner than when we have a goal kick
I listened to the Blackpool commentary on Radio Lancashire. They said we were playing to our weaknesses. They also said our first half tactics were suicide. One said he was perplexed that we kept trying something that wasn't working and kept giving Blackpool chances. Their most telling comments were that City were putting themselves under unnecessary pressure. We keep trying to play out when it isn't possible. They said they were as far away as possible but they coukd see it wasn't working and they didn't understand why City can't see it. They did actually laugh at one point. They also thought Seri wasn't mobile enough. They were surprised that a playmaker just sat in front of the back four. I didn't see it. I only have their word to go on but they did say we were really good at the start and looked very dangerous.
Wasn't just poor marking. Was also gifting posession in general play and putting ourselves under pressure - just higher up the pitch and more frequently. Rosie has only lost once. Reading this thread would suggest he was losing as much as shota was. It'll take more than a couple of months to implement, but now at least we have a platform in games.
How were they lucky to leave with a point? By stats which you alluded to earlier as why we dominated They created more, we conceded more fouls in dangerous areas They had more shots on target
Oh its always the other side being **** not us actually being the better side for the majority of the game as we were, isn't it? Did they hit the woodwork or us?
So high possession and a header hitting the bar feels like a low.. bar.. for reasons to why we deserved to win
We hit the woodwork, scored and forced them into a professional foul when clean through for a red and you're saying they created more clear cut than us? Don't think so.
Woodwork is no different to it being 5 yards over Its off target regardless unless it rebounds back into a good area But the stats show they had more shots and more on target Their keeper didnt have a save to make Just the stats
Both sides had poor finishing I was explaining why they didnt take us to the cleaners as you suggested another post would imply
