I thought it interesting that some sources (namely ukrainian) were reporting the missiles were made in Russia very early on.

What this does show in big neon lights is that the U.S. will do anything to avoid NATO action being triggered.

Understandably so, but Russia is watching.

Zelensky echoes Churchill as he tells Congress: We will never surrender.

President Zelensky drew comparisons to Winston Churchill last night when he gave a powerful speech to Congress in Washington, saying that American support was crucial to the defence of his country.

In an appeal to Republican sceptics before Congress votes on the latest aid package to Ukraine, the president declared: “Your money is not charity.”

He added: “It’s an investment in the global security and democracy that we handle in the most responsible way . . . You can speed up our victory, I know it.”

The U.K. had fck all help until Churchill's address to congress - and that was following the attack on Pearl Harbour... by comparison to the world and his wife giving billions in cash and the most high tech, most modern and destructive araments to Ukraine from day one.

Good luck to Ukraine, I hope they drive the Russians out, but I can't help feeling we're being played for fools with all this bollox. They're no different to any other group of ppl who are fighting aggressors and totalitarian regimes around the world that no one gives a fck about.

 

The US has secured access to four additional military bases in the Philippines - a key bit of real estate which would offer a front seat to monitor the Chinese in the South China Sea and around Taiwan.

With the deal, Washington has stitched the gap in the arc of US alliances stretching from South Korea and Japan in the north to Australia in the south.

I'd heard about this, but only saw the video of it this morning. I know it was said the Americans can't shoot it down, because of the danger of falling debris. Not sure China actually gain anything from it, that they don't already know, I guess it's just bait to wind the US up....

The Chinese have publicly stated that they use them for surveillance. They've been flying them over Taiwan, too.

 

Would it make any difference if they did? I don't trust any of them tbh.

There's probably kafka style skullduggery going on at levels we have no knowledge of and we're just being played.

 

They've actually admitted it now, but maintain it's a weather balloon. Seems odd that the US wouldn't shoot it down over Montana, Idaho, Nebraska and the Dakotas - amongst the most sparsely populated states of the US.
