Well said CGT. Let's hope things improve and we give NK the time and space to get it right otherwise we'll only make his tough job tougher by jumping on his back. We need to fail fast and improve but he'll also need a bit of time. The deadline beyond which a good enough points tally is irrecoverable to avoid relegation is not upon us yet so let's try and give the man time.

Yep. He made the obvious changes quite early on in the second half. I'm assuming KWP was on limited minutes, hence why AMN stayed on and moved to RB.

Can't say I agree Tom. Both sides were playing very similar formations and TBH we didnt deserve the win. Lincoln created the better chances (also against a back 3), we scored from offside and they had a pen denied that likely should have been given. Yes we were better in the second half, a lot of that was down to getting rid of AMN who was totally marked out of the game forcing us to go long or wide. Stu came in and was more mobile, making himself available which free'd JWP up. Still JWP was so passive that we still didn't do much.

I saw absolutely nothing in this game that I didn't see in the last 12 games. Literally down to the subs coming on and looking more exciting. I was really looking to find SOMETHING regardless of the result. I'd have taken a loss if there was something to be hopeful about but instead we got an undeserved win and zero reasons to be optimistic. I'm not one to be negative for the sake of it but that was a disaster for me and 20 EPL teams are going to destroy us on that evidence.

Lincoln hardly created anything TBH. They had a few shots from outside the box and had a few set pieces but that's it. It wasn't a great game but to say Lincoln created the better chances is a massive stretch. And since when has a 2-1 win been a disaster?

Sorry but I disagree. They scored a scrappy goal but it was a fair goal, they were denied a pen and created two very good chances that better FWDs would have put away, that could have had them at 0-4. They forced a good save from Bazunu from distance and their man had Salisu (who was awful again) all over the place and created two good opportunities from that. Our two end game chances came from counter attacks with them chasing a game that on another day they would have been leading in. They were very good for a league 1 side and we looked very poor, give credit where it's due IMO.

Maybe Brighton will be a better gauge? Did I read that Lavia won't be fit for that?

Not to start apparently. Hopefully he'll be on the bench.

You can't really use this 'could have / should have' way of thinking. The stats say we had 16 attempts on goal to their 5. 6 of ours on target to 2 of theirs. In what world do stats like that result in a 0-4 score line? I think we all agree Saints were rusty as hell and serious work needs to be done. But to suggest that Lincoln should have thrashed us is just crazy talk.

A couple of negatives, he managed Luton and was sacked by Stoke

To sit on? Or to place in an area of non-solar activity? Or Lewandowski? :)

I don’t see how managing Luton is a negative, especially as they appear to think highly of him.

You're interpreting what I wrote out of context with Tom's posts which isn't accurate. Read the posts before rushing to your own interpretations.

I never suggested they 'should have thrashed us' you're twisting words. Like what I wrote or don't, disagree or don't I have no issue, no need to try an pull down my opinion to some imagined 'crazy talk'.

Mark Hughes was sacked by Stoke, and he kept us up.

Apologies if I offended. Wasn’t my intention.

But I stick by what I say. I just think you’re being overly dramatic. Your original response to Tom is full of hyperbole.

Like I said, I agree with you in essence. It wasn’t a good performance at all. But I think we need to calm down really because it was just one game. A cup quarter final with an immediate 1-0 deficit is never going to be comfy game for a team lacking confidence, no matter the oppo.

EDIT: Not 1/4 final, but you know what I mean. 1/4 final place on the line.

This. For me, a disaster would have been losing last night, even if we had played well. Wins boost confidence, losses dent confidence at the end of the day.

Even if we had lost, it wouldn't have exactly been a disaster. It was a cup game after 6 weeks with no competitive football under a new manager. Bad start yeah, but the league cup is no longer our priority.

The next 5 or 6 league games will define our season.
